Hey folks im looking to replace the sunroof on my 1990 eclipse....finding a 1990 sunroof is almost impossible. would a 1991-1994 sunroof fit on a 1990? I would be replaceing everything of course (glass, latch assembly, etc). Has anyone done it, or seen it done? Looking for a little more info than "it shoud". thanks!

I believe all the sunroofs for the 1G's were the same.

Ya I'm pretty sure there all the same too..It wouldn't make any sense for Mits to make a different sunroof.

Actually the 1990 model uses a different latch assembly - easiest way to tell if you have a 90 is to look at the latch handle, its metal. The 1991 - 1994 models use a totally different latch assembly and plastic latch handle.

the 1991-1994 model is a much improved latch design. my 1990 sunroof is a bit worn and tends to want to open at higher speeds.

Well that clears that up..Thanks man..A metal handle you say, interesting..Does the 90 sunroof have the hinges in the front? That would help clear up another 1g sunroof question..Ya I don't have any problems with the sunroof trying to open at higher sppeds when latched down..But if it's not latched ya it tends to come up..Ohh also if you don't have it latched you can always roll one of the windows down a bit.It will make the sunroof not come up..

Maybe someone who has a 91-94 sunroof (moonroof, don't think mitsu made an electric sunroof) can measure the lenght and width of the glass from the outside? this way I can atleast ensure the glass has the same dimensions and its just a matter of installing the 91-94 latch assemby.

Update: I decided to post the results of my findings after swapping my 90 sunroof for a 91-94 (94 in my case)

After removing the sunroof, which btw only includes removing the 2 bolts on the latch, and pushing the sunroof upward. The glass has 2 hinges, but comes off once you push the glass up.

facts: the 91-94 glass is exactly the same (same dimension and mounting holes)
facts: the latch assembly that is bolted on the inside (ceiling) has totally different mounting holes.

summary: You can use a 91-94 glass on a 1990 or vise-versa but you can not interchange the latch assembly without modification (drilling new holes on your ceiling).

The 91 should be the same as the 90, still the 1ga design, cant see why the sunroofs would change.

Trust me I've done a lot of research and it is different. The 90 model differs from 91 and up in several ways - sunroof latch assembly, transmission, shifter cables, transfer case, shifter assembly, gauge cluster, throtle body, etc..

Can you post som pics from the inside please??So I can see the metal handle etc..

If you look closely you will notice the latch, and the latch assembly are different from the 91-94.
