I have a 1992 awd automatic with a 4 bolt rear end. Can i swap in a 1991 3 bolt rear diff from a 5 speed and use the 4bolt axles currently in my car while swapping to a 5 speed. If not will a 4 bolt automatic axle slide into a 4 bolt manual differential.

I think that you just asked the same question twice, but you answer is "NO"

If you just want to change the ratio then I would just put change over the ring and pinion to the ones from the 3 bolt. You will need to get it re-shimmed though so I would get an expert to do it.

The housings are the same.

Just swap the ring gear off the diffs and pop the 4bolt diff into the 3bolt housing. (hope that make sense)

When I did mine, they had the same shims between the two. There was no need to reshim anything. Been working fine for 60k + miles.
