The product that EVERYONE needs is FINALLY here. The Australian company that was selling the components for you to make your own DIY Wideband is now offering complete units. This means that you no longer have to get the pieces and then find an electronics guy to assembly it for you. The best thing is the price its about $300 US to get it insured and shipped to your door. At that point the only think you need is the O2 sensor off of a Civic VX.

If you are wondering what it is or what id does I suggest you do some research online. The simple answer is that a wideband 02 sensor will be able to tell you your exact air/fuel ratio. You no longer have to depend on your inaccurate a/f gauge or datalogger. With this you will be able to read your exact a/f ratio at all times. I can’t tell you how useful this product will be. Some of us wonder how we ever use to be able to tune without a datalogger this will be the same thing.

That doesn't say it includes the sensor though. I found a sensor from someone off the Techedge WB Yahoo group. All said and done I spent $400 on the sensor and the TE version 1.1 WB. And it works awesome!

I spent $170 for my kit and sensor, but that was before the price jump. Techedge has their new WBO2 coming out in a few weeks and it uses a Bosch sensor from a VW that you can get for $50. It also has data logging and stuff built in. It is also firmware, so it can be reflashed with updates.

AEM also just released a wideband. Retail is $400 with the sensor, so they should have a street price around $300 I am guessing.

we have tech edge at work~ 3 or 4 logged runs up and down the street, when we got to the dyno, our a/f was right around 12.5, which was perfect for a turbo civic that gets driven very, very hard.(231hp/219tq on a daily basis), just proving the units accuracy. another minor perk to the unit, is the saved time on the dyno. we only needed 2 pulls, which was $30. id reccomend the tech edge unit just for ease of use, price, and accuracy. it is defintly a good idea not to replace your stock 4wire o2 and use the L1H1 all the time, since they build up carbon fast, and easily lose accuracy. It was meant to be run on a car that ran lean anyways.(civic vx). well, thats my blurb on the topic.:)

While I am in the middle of subscribing I might as well throw out my question. What was the general aggrement on placement? From what I gather, for those of us who don't have a ems or any other engine managment YET, we would be better off going about it the hard way(installing a new bung, probably just before the flex pipe). Since my future plans are to get an EGT and A/F guage right before i buy an S-AFC, I can sort of skip buying both of those guages and just use the WB for tuning off of. I mean since it will be stoic the gasses will be cool enough anyways. I gather that the cost will be fairly close, and definatly more usefull. damnit.....now I need to sell my guage pod. any takers.

Oh yeah...tell me more about this voltage regulator for $40....where and what type?

I have a 2G Talon with only the free mods done. Before I start putting more mods in my car I want to be able to tune/know all the info I can.

1) Will this give me a real AFR at WOT with the WBO2 sensor

2) how do I connect the NBout to the ECU/Old O2 sensor wiring harness, can I buy a harness adapter or do I have to splice it to the wires?

3) Do I have to tap in to the different wires for the input of RPM + 2 others (MAP, TPS), For our cars we would use the RPM lo (Pulse input) for RPM, but if I have a logger (pocket logger) whats the point, except log with PL through the OBDII and use the loggingout on the WBO2 unit to connect to a PC?

4) Is DSMlink the way to go for logging and tuning?

"Made by Bosch for wire in applications."

Might these just be universal units though where you have to cut off your old connection plug and wire it on with this new sensor? I just recently had to do that with a Bosch dsm replacement sensor. If that's the case, then it'll be $79 plus however much a new connection plug would be.

it doesn't plug into the stock harness though, and even so you'd just need to splice it in or repin the connector. i'd rather spend 80 for a widebad sensor than a few hundred for the honda one that you'll have to hack the plug off anyways.

That is probably the new Bosch LSU-4. There currently aren't any controllers for it, but the OZ is supposed to be out this week. It is not quite as accurate as the NTK (honda), but is pretty close and can actually be found for $39! The NTK is right at $180 now.

The tech edge web page is damn confusing id like to order one today. Can someone break the cost down in idiot terms for me, what's the total price with display and what sensor do I need and is it offered with the kit.

You want the version 2.0 with the 2.6m cable and display. If you had a stand alone you wouldn't need the display. Then order the sensor from the 1stVW website that is listed. All said and done it should be about $270.

That is the most God damn confusing website I have ever seen:mad:

just to clairify i want this

Electrical, Powertrain control, Oxygen sensor, OXYGEN SENSOR, Golf, GTI, 1.8L, Front $38.65 $28.99 $28.99

and this

WBo2 system & sensor (2.6 m) includes Bosch 0 258 006 066 LSU sensor, LD01 display & 2.6 m 6066 cable. (save $20 on the bundled 0 258 006 066 sensor) [2A0-LD01-2c6b6-6066]

OK i just ordered whatever the hell I just ordered:rolleyes:. Confusing damn website. I guess everything is included it all came to $476 so I guess the sensor is with it:rolleyes:

Yep, you ordered the TE with the sensor. You should have ordered the one without the sensor. It isn't that confusing, it says you ordered the WB O2 controller, display, oxygen sensor and cable. I would email TE and tell them you actually want the one without the sensor. It is cheaper that way and you can use the sensor from the VW place.

Have you gotten it in yet? I would have bought this along time ago if they hadn't delayed the 2.0 release. I went with the FJO instead.

I have had to wait on things from Australia before. I find it very therapeutic to go to Outback Steakhouse and be really rude to the staff. Then go to the bar and insult Fosters

I have a temper problem but fosters is the shit:thumb: they returned my email last night they said it will ship today or monday.
