Hey guys, I have a few questions about wideband installations. First off a little background about 2 months ago I had dropped my car off for a few part installs. One of them being a MTX-L wideband install. I had no issues at first about 2 weeks ago I had a CEL come on. Check the code it was rhe front o2 sensor upon further inspection yesterday I found that it had not be completely installed. The yellow and brown wires were just tucked in and taped down. I also notice the were really short.

My first question is can I just connect another wire to them and run them to where they need to go? Also does the wire need to be the same gauge if I do so.

Second question is with tapping and ecu pin. I just cut pin 76 a few inches and connect the brown wire for o2 sim with ECMlink?

Third is what can I do with the old o2? Is it ok to just unplug ane tuck it since I'm running an o2 sim?

I have an LC-1 kit but they should install very similar. If you still have the instructions for installing the kit, I would look at that to know exactly where the wires should go. I know on my LC-1 kit, I have a yellow wire that doesn't go to anything and the other I think is brown and its going to my gauge in my dash (had to buy seperate). They were both short like yours as well. Since they are different brands, the colors I said probably arn't going to be the same so I would look through the install instructions.

As for your first question, You can crimp on or solder the wires together to make them longer. General rule for whenever you add wires is never go down in guage size. Those wires dont have much current going through them so any size wire would be fine for them. Just don't go smaller than the gauge it is which looks like 22 gauge.

As for your second question, I cannot answer becasue I have Jackel not Link. Sorry

As for your third question, did you not install the new wideband o2 in the original o2 spot? That's what I did and its working great. You can just unplug your old o2 sensor and do whatever you want with it (sell it or keep it). A CEL should not come on if everything is installed correctly with your new wideband.

Here is a thread that might help you.

Hope this helps!:thumb:

Not sure about 1g but 2g's will get a cel for heater sensor if the front o2 is not plugged in.

The yellow wire is for logging and the brown wire goes to pin 76 on the ecu (for a 2g)IF you need to simulate narrowband (ie. you put the wideband in place of the front o2 sensor). If not then you shouldn't need to connect the brown wire. The yellow wire is used to log in evoscan or link. If you have a 1g you need to follow this ecu pinout:

1g's only have 1 o2 sensor so I thought that would be the only place to put it. Plus I was always told the closer the sensor is to the trubine housing the better and more accurate it is. I could be wrong. I'm not simulating narrowband with Jackel and its working great. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm just trying to learn. Please let me know if I have anything in correct!
