Question on Wideband O2 Sensor

OK. i have a little confusion about this wideband o2 sensor. What does it do and can you like "tune" with it nicely? And one more thing.....do you have to have your MAF Sensor if you get this aftermarket unit....i know you have it stock but i am just wondering whats the big deal with this thing that cost so much..there must be something "special" to it. BY the way i looked on my galant and it is a DSM also. That sticker made my day.

A wideband is much more linear in response and sensitive across a much wider range than the stock O2, which is almost a binary unit. The DSM ECU only cares about values in a very narrow range.

Look at www.wb02.com and www.aempower.com for good Wide Band O2 setups. As defiant said they read a really large range of air fuel voltages and do it with much more precisions then a standard O2 sensor. The display will show your air fuel number steady while your driving (vs. bouncing back and forth like an Autometer gauge) so you can set your air fuel numbers for WOT depending on your mods.

Because of it's accuracy and the equipment involved is why it's expensive. IMO it's the best tuning device available. Next would be EGT but much less important than air fuel is concerned. After that you can concentrate on intake temps and other non-important factors. THey are still important just not something you need to worry about to start. Later on you can make extra power working with the things that matter less.
