At first I thought a stainless feed from the oil filter housing was the way to go, but I've just read the following (approved by a DSM Wiseman):

I was always told from shops and such that with a Mitsu style water/oil cooled stock-style center cartridge that the stock oil feed location from the head were just dandy. With dry bearing (oil cooled) like the garett turbos is where you want to get the more constant pressure from the oil filter housing to float the bearing, unless its a BB GT style too much oil pressure can shorten the life.

and

Yes it does offer higher pressure and that is what will get you in trouble. The stock mitsu turbos were designed to run between 5-20 psi of oil pressure. You can get as high as 100psi or more of pressure from the oil filter housing. Can you imagine how much force that is on the turbo oil seals? 9 times out of 10, oil willl be forced past the seals and then you will start to have problems. I would suggest retricting the oil flow to the turbo if you are feeding it from the oil pump. I wouldnt want to see you waste a new evoIII turbo and Im sure you wouldnt either.

On a 1G, what are the benefits of a stainless oil feed line, especially if it's coming from the stock location on the cylinder head?

Hydrodynamics make bearings work, not oil pressure. Oil pressure only supplies fresh, cool oil to keep bearings from overheating the oil, coking it out, and causing failure. Too much oil pressure can wash the bearing metal out, and damage seals.
Go with whatever your specific turbocharger supplier says about the model you buy.

what he said ^^^. Also if the return line is bigger than the feed line, I don't think you will have to worry about it as much. I would get the ss line for security purposes.
