Why is this here? Previous owner never mentioned. Help!?

so I have a question that I've been wanting to ask you guys the pros for a long time ever since I bought this car and noticed it I never really brought it up because I'm kind of embarrassed not to not knowing myself what it could be or why it's connected that way but if you wise men of DSM world can throw some input on to why the previous owner rewired this valve that I found loose behind the stereo deck? Part number k5t45487 2906

I have completely rewired these cars about 5x. I have never seen that at all. I would trace the wires back to find what they are piggy backed off of. Those are not oem wires that is attached to that item.

Almost looks like a boost controle solinoid? Maybe a wire tuck and the car would throw a code with out it?

Looks like a vapor vent soloenoid just hot wired to the ECU so it doesn't trigger a check engine light

Yes I agree with Chrysler kid. That's the 2g Evap Emission Vent Solenoid which he would have connected to a 2GT ECU pin55 (used on 98,99 turbo) OR to a 96-99 NT ECU pins 72,77 (95 NT used different ECU pins than 96-99 NT). And it's connected to prevent a check engine light since he probably deleted it along with the vapor canister.
