hey,

so my friend just put a evo III 16G on, 650cc injectors, fuel pump, AFPR and AFC-II. oh and intake and 3" turbo back exhaust. boost is at 20 PSI.
we took it to the track today and his best time (with devilsperm driving!!!) was 14.6 ....??? we thought it would run like a 13.5
anybody have any insight as to why it is so slow?

thanks for the help guys!

How is the tune on it? 20psi won't mean much if you're running 8:1 AFR. You didn't mention having a datalogger- you'll need one with the AFC in order to dial it in correctly. Or you can use a digital voltmeter on your o2 sensor. RRE has a really good write-up on this:

You should also check for boost leaks, and make sure your IC has time to cool down completely between runs. You didn't mention a front-mount, and 20psi is pretty high for the stock sidemount. The evo III 16g is rated at 550cfm, which I'm pretty sure is higher than the stock sidemount is rated at. I couldn't readily find the flow rating on the stock sidemount, but you get the idea- at 20psi the stock sidemount will heatsoak very quickly, most likely after one run.

Good luck, hope this helps.

that's what i kept telling him that he was probobly heat soaking it. we do have a datalogger, he's running palm'n'stein and we got the timing as close to 20 as we could.

i'll tell him to check out those links, (and get a fmic, again...) then we'll tune it more and see what happens. any other ideas???

thanks guys!
