I tried to post a classified for my old exhaust but it wont let me go past the 2nd step.

Hmm, well when will i not be a "new member" anymore?

1. New Members:
Everyone who registers on our site becomes a New Member. This title has nothing to do with your actual knowledge of cars. It just means you have not proven yourself on our site. You can view all public forums and Search for all the tech info you need. However, you will be limited to posting in the Newbie forum, the Problem Diagnosis forum, the Appearance forum, the Site Feedback forum and the Tech Articles section. New members also do not have access to post ads in the Classifieds section. New Members will be on thin ice and are expected to follow the Forum Rules, learn from other members, and use proper grammar (and the Spell Check feature). You will also be expected to have read all of the DSM FAQ's in the FAQ Forum, all of the Tech Articles in the Tech Guide, the VFAQ.com articles, and to have done a Keyword Search on any topic you'll be asking a question about. We want you to research before asking a question. If you ask a question that is clearly answered in the FAQ Forum or the VFAQ, you can lose all posting abilities immediately. If you post a thread that is exactly the same as 5-10 other threads posted before, it will be clear that you did not Search beforehand. You will be warned or may lose your posting abilities. Everyone will be expected to do their own research and not flood our database with useless or duplicate info. And you will be expected to stay on topic in a thread and follow all other forum rules and guidelines. Your membership will depend on it. You can earn "Proven" status by learning from the information already posted on the site and answering questions from first hand experiences in the Newbie forum and Problem Diagnosis forum.
Just because you are a New Member does not mean you cannot use our site to find all of the information you need to modify or fix your car. It simply means you have not yet proven yourself as a worthy member. Contribute more and you will. Learn more about the Reputation Points System and how to earn points. After you receive 10 positive reputation points, you've been registered for 30 days and have 25 posts, you will graduate to the Proven Member group. Be careful - you can be bumped back down to New Member status if we determine you deserve it, so be sure you're always helpful and courteous.

btw most sites are this way, people are tired of being ripped off by people coming in to just sell then leave with out contributing to the site.

Yup it sucks but its worth it. Just rack up those rep points and youll be scamming us in no time! :D

Ok how do i get rep points? it doesnt really matter now i just want to try to get rid of my old exhaust so its not sitting around, booster are you on srtforums too?

I would also like to know the answer to this. I thought you just needed 25 posts. But it looks like that is not the case. It looks like you need a good rep??? how do I improve mine? I need to place my car for sale. This sucks!!!

You get rep points by providing good, accurate information. For example, look at the thread below. I just got 4 rep points for it and it was in the newbie forum:

"2. Proven Members:
Once you have been a member for 30 days, you've posted a total of 25 posts in the Newbie forum/Problem Diagnosis forum/Tech Articles section, and you've racked up 10 reputation points, you will be automatically moved from New Member status to Proven Member status. This is where you receive your wings. By this, we mean that you should have had enough time and participation under your belt to know the rules and you've proven yourself as a member. You'll now be able to post in all of the public forums and participate in all public areas of the site, including the Classifieds. By now, you should already know the basics of modifying DSMs, how and where to reference tech info when needed, and the guidelines and policies of the site. You don't post common questions and you don't post misinformation. You will receive more private message storage, the ability to use signatures and avatars, permission to post Classifieds, and the ability to post events in our Event Calendar. Entry to this new group is fairly easy, as it only requires a little common sense, courtesy, and contribution to the site. Yet it's just as easy to be dropped back into the New Member group (and possibly banned) if you show any disregard for our policies."

All of your question can be answered by simply viewing the site's rules and FAQ.

EDIT: Damn, John beat me to it......

This is the exact reason we have implemented the rule. The Classifieds are a privilege to the contributing members of the site. We don't want people coming here and starting an account just to sell of their junk.
