I'm looking at getting a HKS VPC and I'd like to know who's running one. My car is a 90 TSI AWD with small 16g, Evo3 exhaust manifold and O2 housing and a full exhaust. I'm only planning to add 550cc injectors and a front mount (running Dejon upper and lower hard pipes right now) Any opinions from people running a VPC? Thanks
 
I've run both 1g & 2g versions and on my 97 GSX I can live without it but occasionally run the VPC when I want to push the envelope.

Run it with a secondary fuel control because the VPC is just running off of a static chip and it is FAR from ideal. The gain knob will only pull fuel globally, & idle knob will control idle fuel. I run the HKS GCC which adjusts fuel at 4 or 5 rpm bands and it helps, so does running DSMLink.

You'll gain about 20 h.p. and respool during shifts will be instantaneous. Part throttle power will also feel pretty impressive but you'll also get some weird part throttle lean conditions which will cause part throttle knock. Trick is to just plant the throttle at WOT and go full rich:D

Right after install, VPC will idle horribly and want to die out. Don't freak out, just give it some time and it will smooth out. Then play with the "idle" knob to smooth out the idle and adjust the "response" knob full clockwise to minimize the "throttle tip-in" stumble that your going to have to live with.

VPC hates cams and cold weather. My advice is wire up a 2g MAF and a fuel controller of your choice and you will be FAR more happy.
 
I ran a VPC on my galant and fine tuned with an AFC. I thought it was great once I got the bugs worked out. I like the idea of not running a maf. Theres no possible restriction then.
