whos run 16g with stock fuel system?

I know someone who was runnin a fp green 16g with stock fuel system, boostin at 17 psi and was fine. his a/f ratio was 10.5:1 ratio too.

Im wondering how many people have done this, and what their results were?
 
The FP Green and a 16g are two different turbos.

I ran a small 16g on a stock fuel system (minus the pump - I have a rewired 255lph). I was seeing 124% IDC's at 14.5 psi. The wastegate was fed directly from the boost source.

Somehow I don't see that statement being true. Whether they were running an FP Green or a 16g, boosting 17 psi on a stock fuel system would not work. They'd hit fuel cut like crazy.
 
I find it hard to believe that an FP green at 17psi was supported by a stock fuel system and the a/f ratio was even 10.5:1, too.

But 8 psi with a small 16g and 100% idc is not right either :) . I could run around 15 psi with the small 16g with 450s and stock cams.



My advice is don't worry about what others have done. Get a logger and see what your setup CAN do.
 
I'm running a big 16g on stock injectors! :cool:
But my engine is a JDM 6bolt with yellow 510 stock injectors :p

Anyway, running that boost on lets say a big16g with stock injectors might work out, but I think you're really on the border between keeping your engine alive or killing it. My advise would be to absolutely NOT do this! Injectors aren't very cheap but they don't cost a fortune either. You can also tell your friend it's safer to go with larger injectors.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but going for 550's you'll be able to run them without a fuel management system.
Of course it's beter to get a logger and see what your car does but not everybody has the options of doing so.
 
I ran my EVO III 16 G turbo on my stock fuel system on low boost at 12psi and high 18psi never did high. i upgraded and bought a GREDDY 18g turbo and kept the same boost levels did perfect at 12 PSI but when i switched it to 18psi and boosted i noticed something messed up it didnt feel right. so yea
 
I actully run between 15 and 16psi with a B16g and a stock fuel system, i tried 18 psi and hit fuel cut. With that my LTFT was +7 and STFT was 0, so it was runing alittle lean, but with a gst it pulled awsome.

Well, 550s are 22 percent larger and out of the range the ecu has control over compensating. You might be thinking of a 1g ecu being capable of running OK with 550s and a 2g maf. But, the resulting tune won't be very close to stock and doing this upgrade with out atleast a logger to see where you stand after the mod is not recommended.

A logger is more affordable than injectors, and especially an engine. So there's no excuse not buying one if you plan on modifying your dsm. We don't live in the days of the hemi. You can actually know what's happening in your engine these days. You're ecu needs to. So fooling it with fuel an tuning mods would mean that you need to pic up the ball and see what the results are. There's no way to *tune*, if you can't see what the result is. And you're only really fooling yourself if you think you don't need to see.
 
I ran a big 16g on my beater automatic with Supra SMIC and stock fuel system with rewired pump...and during a highway pull exploded a spark plug and chunked a valve...that was at 15 psi. Afte rthe head was redone, SAFC and 680's with stock pump and rocked 20 psi and was fine.

Stock injectors, stock IC, stock fuel pump. Ran somewhere in the neighborhood of 20psi and i hit fuel cut. It was on accident. Anyways, i run consistent 13-14 psi on my evo3 16g. Pulls hard. I also have a hard uicp and a dejon intake with a kn air filter.

I have run 17 psi on a 16g with no fuel mods, just dsmlink for years with no knock or fuel cut, I have also stuck a 3/8 gallon ratio of 116/91 octane and ran 22 psi in the car without problems. This is on a stock sidemount too.

The boost numbers I managed were higher than most people will get without knock or 100 idc.
 
I ran mine a couple years on stock everything. I ran 12psi and it would boost creep hard so i would let off around 15 psi at 6,000 rpm

Now i am re doing everything and will have more then enough fuel for the 16g.
 
i'm currently running e3 b16g with stock 450cc inj. boost 10 psi running strong with fmic, intake, bov, unwire 190 walbro fp, no regulater, have a set of evo 560cc but not yet to install til tuning...no fuel cut or anything. have a safc neo installed but not yet tune. having problem with rewiring 190 fuel pump.
 
im running stock injectors with my 16g in my talon. im only at 10psi but its all good. i also have safcII. but if i revert it back to stock with no fuel modifications, it will still run fine. i just havnt tried to push it to its limits, and i dont plan to. you can do it, just dont go stupid with it.

and yeah... fp green and 16g are nothing alike.
 
Everyone who has mentioned fuel cut... do you realize fuel cut is unrelated to fuel flow? Its related to the ECU cutting fuel as a result of seeing far too much air than what it should be and so it literally shuts of the fuel to stop the runaway cycle. It is not related to fuel flow.
 
That may be true, but fuel cut is def a cuase of having t0o little fuel to supply the air you are providing. Either way you look at it, if you provided more fuel to match the air supplied, you wouldn't get fuel cut.

Yes, that is a problem, but that is not "fuel cut". But what you described is exactly what everyone will face if they overboost their car and not provide an adequate fuel delivery system to match the boosting. I cannot think of the correct terminology for this at the moment. But in this case the ECU is air flow is not being overrun.

Fuel Cut is related to the ECU thinking the engine is about to catastrophically fail due to runaway air flow [irregardless of fuel amount] and so instantly cuts off the injectors... there by combustion, thus it feels like the car hits a wall as you immediately begin engine braking.

I know I'm being a stickler here... :beatentodeath:

Dsmlink eliminates fuel cut:). Wow! That is some high boost and really lean for about 98 octane mix.

So, RedEyeBanDiT, no one here runs that much boost on a stock fuel system with a 16g without over 100% idc let alone a better flowing fpgreen. It's impossible for this guy to run that boost and have 10.5:1 a/f ratio. Unless he's got a VERY poor flowing setup, like worse than stock. Or he recorded 10.5:1 at say mid power band (around 5000 rpms) instead of red line.
 
I just barely upgraded to a evo 3 big 16G with it still on stock fuel system. But I am very cautious about pushing it at all. Without support mods I am worried about doing any damage to it. The only reason I did it was that My stock one blew, and I didn't want to spend the cash on a new stock one.
 
I had the stock turbo upgraded to a 16G,and I hit fuel cut like crazy until I lowered the boost. I was running only like 14 psi. It felt really bad for the engine so, I don't recommend putting much boost on a stock fuel system. My mechanic recommended an aeromotive fuel pressure reulator, larger fuel inector clinic inectors, walbro hp 255 fuel pump, and a dsmlinkto resolve the issue and be able to use the turbo to its true potential.

Sorry to butt in, but im a new member and it wont allow me to post a new thread yet. I am running a small 16g with stock injectors. From what I have been reading and comparing symptoms, I am having very bad (fuel cut) when rpms reach 4000 or so and boost hits 15psi. I get good hard acceleration and spool up, when I ease into it, but asoon as it hits 15psi motor shakes rattles and rolls. Could someone give a direction to start looking for the solution? Bigger injectors, boost controller?
