My 90 awd eclipse has been running like crap for a while now, and I knew it was knocking badly, but it needed some work, so I wasn't concerned until now. Over the weekend I made a custom 3" exhaust, replaced my valve seals, replaced my lifters, and changed my oil. I was burning a ton of oil before, my lifters were insanely noisey, and my exhaust was broken. I have a walbro 255 and my fpr is set at 38psi. This log is at 15psi. I have stock injectors and no fuel control beside my fpr. Any input is greatly appreciated.

A bit rich? will that cause that much knock?
Oh yeah. I actually heard the knock, and WHOA, that is scary stuff! Made me never want to go fast again. :barf:
Thanks in advance
Jeremy

I have a stock MAS with a K+N , and stock intake. I am not sure how I could run so rich with a fpr set at 37-38psi and a walbro 255. I am going to check for boost leaks tonight hopefully. Should I try and turn the Fuel Pressure down lower than 37? Any ideas?
Thanks again!

The 255 will flow substantially more fuel at 37psi than the stock pump. I wouldn't reccomend turning the fuel pressure down any further. Removing the lower honeycomb from the MAS will bring you closer to a correct A/F ratio; however, I would suggest an SAFC or MAF-T to achieve more consistent and correctable results.

I was thinking about buying a MAFT anyway, so I guess now is as good a time as ever. Last night I also did a boost leak test and found out that either my intercooler or one of the hoses attached to it is leaking (sounds like a pinhole). I didn't dig any deeper at the time because I didnt want to lay down in the cold snow, and in the dark to figure it out. Winter really does suck. No doubt about it.
thanks again for the help!

Boost leaks screw with tuning bad, even pinhole leaks. Fix that and things will be easier to tune overall.

I took off the two pipes to my intercooler and looked at the flanges and saw that they were corroding and had some white powder around it along with little holes, so that would be a possible leak area for you.

Erick,
I actually fixed this a few weeks ago, and yes it was where the rubber hoses connect. The aluminum was all corroded and leaking. It is amazing how much a boost leak kills the performance. In any case, I raced my friends brand new 2005 evo and beat him. We both agreed that my car is faster. Not bad for a 15 year old car!
