alright looking at my log from today in a 2nd gear pull since i have an automatic. i pressed go right when it shifted into 2nd and ended it at the end of second, had the throttle to the floor. this is what i came up with in the image below. I thought that my timing looked good, didnt look like it was being pulled anywhere, but my o2 voltage seemed a little bit high, like maybe i could lean it out more, but then i might get my timing pulled a little and have some knock. so im guessing that i should try and lean it out a bit across the board and see if my timing gets pulled any and then keep leaning it out until i get the timing pulled and then richen it back up a little bit? Thanks for any help!! Just got this thing in today and trying to get my car tuned decent. :thumb:

leaned it out some more today and did a run from a stop and got a lil more data in, got a full 2nd gear pull and almost a full 3rd....even with it leaned out i dont see my timing being pulling any, do you think i would be safe to lean it out a little more? If i run some race gas im going to lean it out more right? Thanks

I would suggest logging fewer parameters. The OBD-II on 2G's, especially 95-96, doesn't have too much "bandwidth". See how your last log has each row of data almost 1 full second apart? If you cut out the extra stuff (air flow, intake temp, speed, and even TPS), you can get the data rows being apart by only 0.3 seconds or so. This will give you a closer look at how your timing is advancing or retarding.

Having said that, things still look pretty good to me. If you're going to play with race gas, make sure you start saving two sets of adjustments--one for pump gas, one for race gas.

Your timing was pulled in your most recent log, right around 12.30 seconds into the run. 0.92 with the o2 sensor doesnt mean you will run lean. Most of the 2g's i see run a o2 sensor of 0.92. But 0.98 doesnt mean your running rich either. Every car is different. Your timing advance was pretty low in your first log and it got better in the second 1 except for that little case of knock. Seems like you could stand to see alittle more timing advance. You wanna lean it out as much as you can without seeing knock. Your case you cant see knock so youll have to refer to you timing to see knock. Now every car is different but in my opinion, 0.98 is rich but i could be wrong :talon:

Actually I would say that around the 12.3 second mark his automatic changed gears thus causing that negative timing value. His timing is increasing across the board and I'd say he is pretty close.

I would definatley remove those extra values in the log like airflow and tps as you know what your boost is (that airflow doesn't show realtime boost just some calculated value) and you know your at WOT during the runs.

To better explain it (I have a 1996 eclipse and have the low bandwidth issue myself) your logger can only collect around 8 samples per second. That means if you are logging 1 variable you will get 8 samples in 1 second. If you log 2 then you get 4 samples per variable per second....so on and so forth.

when I make my runs I only log RPM, Timing, and speed. I log speed becuase I can basically tell what gear i'm by that. You can tell when you go WOT becuase the timing drops to around 9 or so and as soon as you get off timing shoots way up around 27 or 30.

thanks for all the help guys, i ran a few times at the track and managed to pull a 13.926 at 96.2 mph out of an automatic 2nd gen with the stock t-25. i was looking at the boards and i saw a few that had higher times, 2-3, but i think they were standards. so i'd say i did pretty good i guess?

Good point. He still shouldnt be seeing that knock tho. I didnt even realize hes running the t25, so that is probably the best he going to get out of it. Well done :talon:

well the t-25 had a little accident this weekend and blew up :p so i guess its time for a scm61 maybe? :thumb:
