Which way does the cam angle go in?

So yea, I just put the head back on from tearing it all apar to fix a headgasket. Well now i'm stumped on which way the cam angle sensor goes in. Does it matter which way it faces when putting it in? What would happen if i put it in the wrong way? thanks

On the cas there is a notch and a line that must be lined up. with all your timing marks aligned the cas will go in straight and not need to be moved. if you do it properly the ignition timing should be right at 5* btdc

what would happen if it was put on the wrong way persay?

then the cas would be telling the ecu to fire igniton and fuel at the wrong times. cause the car to run horrible or even not start

Because I think I had it on backwards when I went to turn the car over and it made a loud spray kind of noise. It won't even turn over either way. The engine just keeps turning

what you are explaining is the engine turning over i believe what you are trying to say is that it wont fire. you may want to verify that you hooked all your connectors up right make sure the wires are in th correct order. and also verify that the timing marks all line up on the cam gears with dowel pins at 12 o clock and #1 cylinder at tdc. perform a compression test also if you have the ability too.

yea i dont think it wants to fire. The spark plug wires I looked in the haynes manual and called my friend up and asked him how his was setup and the book and his were the same... and I just went to try to start it again it wasnt even turning. Then the third time i tried it started turning but only for a second then stopped.

put a 1/2 inch drive ratchet on the crank bolt in the drivers side wheel whell and try and turn it with the spark plugs out to see if it has free movement
