Suggestions?

Ill do a compression test. I have an appointment next monday at the shop so ill have them go deeper.

UPDATE:
The smoking has been fixed, atleast for now. Smoking was due to bad PCV valve - was replaced. What now? Im thinking one of my sensors is bad for sure. I had a P1494 code pulled like 3 weeks ago.

The rattling in your top end could possibly be a worn out piston or rings. The reason it may go away after warming up and you cannot hear it at idle is because the piston and rings are swelling up enough once it is to operating temperature and you only hear it then above idle. No real easy fix for this...just to install new rings and hone the block. Good luck! BTW: a leak down test may give further information on the actual problem.

First a 1494 code is this P1494 Evaporative Emissions Ventalation Solenoid switch Or Mechanical Fault.

Here it the information on how to do a leakdown test and what the results will tell you.

Thanks ill be looking at that in a moment. Im getting my EGR valve replaced today. Do you thinbk this code could be the cause of my top end knocking? I heard a damaged egr valve under rare circumstances can make the motor knock.

Well I bought a new EGR valve and the P1494 code disappeared and the knocking seemed really faint and sounded alot better.. But after about 10-15 minutes the knock slowly came back, but not as loud. And i would check my oil pressure but i have the dummy light and idk how to switch to a gauge, or at least a temporary one.
