Which O2 housing to get?

funny i just found this thread, i just walked out of my garage less than 5 minutes ago pissed off . i have the ssautochrome o2, so i will speak about the fitment issue. i was just bolting it up to my brand new mhi evo3 16g and something didnt seem right putting the second bolt in, well i immediately backed the bolt out and i found 2 stripped threads in my new turbo cause it wasnt going in straight due to the holes being off. good thing i had that size tap and fixed it quite easy but after looking at it after i fixed it its amazing how far off the holes are off


im still debating whether to just drill the holes out bigger or cut my losses and buy something else.

So are the misaligned bolt holes the only issue? What if one were to reweld a new flange on there? are there any other fitment issues aside from the turbine outlet flange?

drill them bigger. as long as the gasket is there and bolted down there shouldn't be any problems.

I have the machv polished SS O2. Boost creep is no longer and bolted up fine. They even had it to my house 3 days after order was placed. So if you dont get your EVOIII atleast look into that one.

drill them bigger. as long as the gasket is there and bolted down there shouldn't be any problems.

of course i will drill them bigger , it just sucked getting all involved then having to stop cause of something so stupid...

Yeah I had to drill out my ssautochrome. But it is holding up surprisingly well. going on 3 months and 1 encounter with the curb that destroyed one of my apexi cat-bck hangars...surprised I didnt destroy my o2 housing.

I've had my SSAutochrome O2 housing for 7 months now and no problems at all. My fitment was perfect and you can't beat the $73 shipped that I got it for.

what does the dump o2 sound like? I tried to down load some clips from the video forum but some dont work anymore or some are too big still on dial up if someone has a small clip they can send me or post a link. I hear its hard to describe.

It's very easy to describe. The sound also depends on the diameter of the dump tube and how much power your car puts out. I used to have an RnR 2.5" o2 elim downpipe w/ext. dump (don't buy RnR, fitment sucked, LICP RUBBED the dump tube), it was on my 1g with EvoIII 16g, FMIC, 650s, etc. Sounds like an almost hollow exhaust sound, I mean you're just dumping exhaust gas with no restriction in the engine bay, it's loud and hollow sounding to me. I think the smaller diameter o2's sound better.

I'm personally going with either a 122performance.com o2, they route the dump to your spec pretty much, and less than $200; or a Punishment Racing o2. I am then going with a jayracing.com $95 routed-out-the-bumper kit. Cause that's just how I am

So to sum it up:
-SS Autochrome = sketchy
-RnR Racing = sketchy
-122performance = good
-Punishment Racing = good.

EDIT: not to mention, it took RnR 4 months to ship the DP, the same thing happened to my friend and they almost sent him an AWD one when he specified it was for a FWD about a dozen times. I'm not bashing them, just informing you.
