which injectors would suit me better? 550's, 650's, or 680's?

Hey all, i have a question and was wondering if anyone with experience can offer some input on this one. I am in the process of purchasing fuel injectors, my goal is for 300 hp for now. I have a 255 high pressure walbro, aeromotive regulator and a s-afc to control it all. My question is which injectors would suit me better? 550's, 650's, or 680's?

Also on another question, if i were to purchase a lightened flywheel like say for example the act one, would i need additional hardware to mount it? Like longer studs or bolts?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Oh almost forgot will also order a wideband, but i'm not sure which one because the aem is very good priced and i've heard is quite good.

Thanks again!!!!:thumb::talon:

I would go 650's with a safc. I don't like tuning 750's with one, although I did it for a year.

The flywheel will bolt right up. You might want to order new oem bolts though, it is a good practice IMO.

For the wideband, the innovate wideband has a narrowband simulate feature that is pretty handy that aem doesn't offer. I also think innovated replacement sensor is a $50 bosch unit that you can get from any parts store. Call Ryan at ImportEvolution.com - Import Performance Parts, DSM, WRX, Supra, Honda and tell him that Tyler from Nebraska said he would sell it to you for under $350.00 :D.

Thank you for those quick replies guys, so the general consensus appears to be to stay in the range of the 650, 680 injectors. Guess it's time to go shopping LOL. And by the way Spln_Hrd thanks for the input on my other two questions bro, i'll look into the innovative wideband right away.

Has anybody had experiencer with the act flywheel by any chance, is it livable in sreet duty or is it a pain?
Any input will be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks again:thumb:

You're not giving us too much to work with here. What is your intended setup?

Ryan was a great help to me. When I was installing my AFPR that I purchased from IE, the car wasn't starting and the fuel pressure wasn't where it was supposed to be (the AFPR was only holding about 10-15 lbs. before the car would die). He reminded to read the directions :)coy:) and install the other spring that was included in the kit. A big thanks to you, Ryan. :)

ACT flywheel is very streetable. Just get a good clutch to go along with it and you should be fine. The only thing you will notice is that you will have to clutch in earlier when coming to a stop. Lighter weight = easier to stall when the rpms are low.

Thanks again peeps, in response to DSMunknown my intended setup is a 300whp or 350whp for street driving as i don't go to the track that often just enjoy driving my dsm almost everyday(dd), so i want a streetable combination.

And BoostFrenzy, i already got a great clutch setup, namely a 2600lbs clutch masters pressure plate and a 6 puck bronze disk, hope that is enough.

So apparently 650's it is then.

Hope that clears doubts about my setup.

Any more input guys????
:rocks:

What I meant was, which turbo are you planning on running with? Any other noteworthy parts that we should know about? These types of things play a role in deciding which injectors to choose. Give us more information (or a detailed list).

Thanks for replying DSMunknown, to answer your question right now i'm still on the 14b turbo, but after i max it out i'll be running a 16g or 20g, not sure right now but i'll probably decide for the evo3 16g because i want to keep it all as close to stock as possible without messing with the engine too much.

As for other parts well the car already has a very good 3'' turboback exhaust, so i'll the remainder of parts is wideband(on it's way), s-afc(already here), aeromotive regulator, walbro 255 high pressure, and the injectors which i'll order tomorrow.

Everything in the car is up to date including a new tranny, new seals, new timing belt, new water pump, etc.

So i hope that clears everything up and if i forgot anything you think might help me, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks again :thumb:

"The major flaw in this method is that when you hide enough airflow from the ECU, it no longer sees enough airflow to run in the highest load table. What this means is that as you go down to a lower load table, your timing curve gets more aggressive. Even with as little as 550cc injectors, I was seeing up to 28 degrees of timing advance at WOT using a stock ECU and AFC."

Thats the explanation from a knowledgeable local dsm'er (thanks steve93talon). I was too asking the same questions about injector size and s-afc. Honestly if you have the money spend it on dsmlink.
