Which front water pipe?

Ok. I know this has probably been answered a thousand times but I cant figure out what I need. I'm almost ready to put my 2.3 6bolt in my 97 talon. I'm confused about which front water pipe I need. What year? Will a 2.0 n/t work. I'm using a 90 oil filter housing so that I can use an external oil cooler. I'm gonna be running a garrett gt series turbo which is water & oil cooled. So, Which pipe do I need?

I ran into this question a while ago, heres what I found out.

With a water cooled turbo, you can run a 89-92 2.0 Turbo front water pipe which has the line for the turbo.

Or if you have an oil cooled turbo, or you just want to plumb the water line off another spot besides the stock location, you can run the 89-92 N/T front water pipe which is the same pipe minus that water line.

But 91-94 has the water cooled oil cooler on it. So, wont the pipe from those years have a line or pipe for that? I know the 90 turbo has an external oil cooler on it so, I know that it wont have any provisions for that which, is what I want. But, I need a source of water for my turbo. So, dont I need a 90 turbo water pipe? Hell, I cant find one for any year anyway. Theres one on ebay but, its for a n/t. Help please.

Yes. Run the 90 turbo water pipe if you need water cooled (which you do) and run the 90 NT water pipe (like I do) if you dont need a water line for a turbo.

I said 89-92 because they are 6 bolts which have different pipes then the 7 bolts because of the thermostat housing.

Ok, I thought thats the one I need. But I cant find one for a turbo. If I use one for a n/t, where can I get a source of water for the turbo?

Use the thermostat for the turbo water feed regardless of what year thermostat housing you plan on using. The water pipe is for the return line. The n/t pipe can't be used unless you T into the heater return hose.

You need to run a 1990 Turbo Water Pipe. This way it will not have the fitting for the water cooled oil filter housing, but it does have the fitting for the water cooled turbo like your setup.

I'm looking at CAPS right now and for some reason it gives me 2 options 1990 turbo cars.

They read as followed.

1. Year 8901.1 - 9006.1 T/C Part number MD 147684
2. Year 9006.2 - 9009.3 T/C Part number MD 163195

If I were to make a wild guess I'd chose number 1 and hope thats the right one.

Well, the 90 water pipe is almost impossible to find. My father is the parts manager at the local dodge dealership. I was able to get everything I need for the 1g in a 2g new except that pipe. Its discontinued.

Alright, well then I would just buy a 90 Non Turbo water pipe, those are not discontinued, I just bought one. I would then buy a -6 aluminum bung and have it welded into the pipe.
