I decided to buy new speakers for my car and decided on 6.5 Alpine Type R components and 6x9 alpine Type R for the rear. I got a cheap kenwood headunit i am using to power them and i dont like the sound. I am deciding on getting an amp and i prefer to get an alpine amp.

The guy at the car audio store said to get the MRV F300 to power them but its only rated for 50x4 at 4 OHMs and i feel that isnt enough for the speakers since they are rated at 100 RMS.

So i am looking for more ideas for my set up. If i should spend more for an amp or just buy a better headunit or just go with the MRV F300 amp. Open to any advice you guys got. Thanks

I have a 65Wx4 amp in excellent condition if you want it, PM me if interested.

I don't know what level of sound you're going for but a decent 50Wx4 is potentially still VERY loud especially in a small car like ours, and more than enough for typical street use. If you're just cruising around listening to music unless you're practically deaf you will never use anywhere close to the full output of one (otherwise you will soon go deaf).

I have an Alpine 4 channel that supplies 70wx4, with Alpine Type R Component speakers. I never put it to the maximum level, its too loud in my opinion. The clarity is excellent.

The problem with these though... they don't work when its cold. This was a well known issue with their amps, I do not know if they ever fixed this. There were a lot of forums about it, but I haven't checked up on it years. I would hope by now this was resolved...

I also bought an Audiobahn Q-Flame amp, 1200 watts, for my 12" Audiobahn Q Flame sub. This amp is about 10 years old now and it still works as good as the day I bought it. If their quality hasn't deteriorated, I would go with Audiobahn.

I have found that the Alpine amps have been very good so far.

I'm using Alpine PDX series amps (PDX100.4)100x4 for the front/rear/left/right and (PDX600.1) 600 watt monobloc for the sub. They have been very reliable and don't draw a crazy amount current. Class D amps are very efficient. Alpine type R 6 3/4 component front OEM rear (there is not a lot of depth for the rears.) and a 10" solobaric sub in a sealed box.

ok thanks. and also i found this amp MRX-F65 4 channel. It says its does 100RMS at 4OHMs so i am wounderin if anyone has ever used it or if itll be good for my speakers. And which amp would be better this one of the MRV F300
