Hi guys

unfortunelty i think my engine is blown , was driving on the freeway and all the red warning lights turned on. Turned the car off immediatly and had it towed to Mitsubishi Norway's garage.

They had never seen an eclipse before but at first sight he concluded with the a HEAVY oil-leak and withouth me noticing my engine got blown to shit. Im just hoping he is wrong , going to check it thorougly monday morning.

Worst case scenario , the engine is blown , where do i buy a new one in good quality? Mitsubishi Norway wanted 23500$ for a new one , wich i find ludacris.

Found just a couple on Ebay , the most interesting one was this ;

4G63 Turbo Mitsubishi Eclipse 1995 1999 Rebuilt Engine : eBay Motors (item 120541827646 end time Apr-10-10 04:19:49 PDT)

but that guy wont give me any information regarding anything and he refuses to help sending it overseas , so im staying clear of him. Extreme Psi dont sell complete engines , not as far as i could tell.

i have a 1997 GSX ( reckon its 7 bolt then... ? )

Any webpage you recommend ?

thnx

I think your best bet would be to find one on ebay, or some website that takes paypal as payment. I suggest paypal because you can usually get your money back if they try and screw you. Shipping is gonna be expensive to Norway unless you can find one in Europe it may not be as bad. I don't think they really sold a whole lot of DSMs in Europe.

Another Possibility would find one of those JDM companies that sells engines online. 23,500 is a bit insane for just a new engine. You could buy a brand new car for that much.

Well assuming that the 23,500 is in Norwegian Krones, that works out to be about $4000 US which if they are doing the install I would say is about right. If you want to do the install yourseld I have to agree, ebay or JDM.

The Evo III motor can swap into your GSX, but use your sensors. You should be able to find some in Europe.

Just stay away from kar king - they sent me NT block = no oil squirters, no balance shafts = super high oil pressure, 1mm lifters. Hell I even took apart my motor and one rod cap was so mismatched I could catch my finger nail on the rod end cap.
He'll probably PM me now whining about how/why I'm bashing him. But I'd rather save other members of the community the headache. Sorry bud- you cut corners on this and I'm gonna have to call you out.

i meant 23500 USD :) and thats not included the work.

They think they can charge this ### they see someone desperate , and because they are unsecure about the car

Anyway, i googled abit more and actually found a norwegian company that imports engines for DSM , so if the engine is blown they can get a new one for me much cheaper

Is the EVO III engine the exact same engine as in the GSX or do they differ? Are either of them better than the other?

The Evo III is better because it has higher compression, better turbo, better manifolds, better throttlebody, better cams. People who blow their engines here in the US, have swapped them but true Evo III engines are hard to find in the US so I don't have the details. The main differences will be in your sensors and those should swap over.

Sweet Moses, did DSM's even cost 23k new? That's insane! I'll fly over there, bring an engine with me and put it in for 23k. :p

my dear man, clearly you dont know about the norwegian fees and taxes when it comes to cars :p they are insane to say the least

i'll convert it into dollars so you get a drift of how things are like over here

i got my 97 gsx for 40 000$ , wich was a bargain...

You have to pay 500$ pr HP for a car in norway if you want to import it.

I asked a seller about a 2009 model Eclipse GT , they gave me a really good price of 195 000$.

94 mod Toyota supra costs about 70$

FYI ; norway has the highest VAT on fuel and cars in the world

We were assuming you converted your currency to USD. Obviously that is not the case. No one would ever pay $40,000USD for a 2G GSX.

if you want a GS-T or GSX in norway you have to pay that kind of money, there's no way around it , atleast if you want plates on it

the car itself is not that expensive, its the taxes pr hp

car around 9000 USD , taxes and stuff 31000USD

the motor was an ezy fix lucky me! :)

it was just the mechanic at mitsubishi norway who had never seen the inside of an US eclipse before who scared the shit out of me , he apologized later for that because he jumped to conclusions

free healtcare, free dental, free school. Atleast one advantage with beeing the richest country in the world :)

Check out Michael Moore's "Sicko" and see the deleted scene about norway if you want a better insight =)
