Hey this question isn't for me it's actually for a buddy. Me and him are gonna take his 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage and convert it to a Evo 4/5. I was just wondering where I could buy an Evo 4/5 engine from, the only place I could find one was at JapaneseDomesticMotors.com and that company seemed pretty crappy imo, if that's the only place then we'll just have to buy from there, but I was seeing if you guys new of a better place. The car is gonna be a mix of Evo 4/5 stuff so it can either be an Evo 4 or 5 motor, it really don't matter. Thanks in advance.

Good luck, there are tons of vendors selling the later model evo motors. All are extremely expensive, and all are going to require a TON of work to put into a mirage... The least of which being installing the rear portion of the drivetrain where your gas tank now sits..

i believe you could use old Mirage instead of 2000 mirage. I said the older one because when you change the body kit and those thing you could really make it more look like evo 4 or 5. I seen one at HIN actually, when i first saw it i thought it was real evo 4 but when i look under the engine bay it was just the mirage. Man i was trying to see if i could find the picture of the mirage conversion to evo 4, but i cant seem to find the picture. I think it will be easier to get the Evo 4 chassie [not sure if i spelled it right].. If you do that you could have awd mirage :thumb: just change the body to mirage & convert the right hand driving to the left so you could save some insurance money. Im not sure but there is not that much difference on the enigne of evo 4-5 but i know that Evo 1-3 it could fit on the dsm like how it suppose to and evo 4-8 sit differently...

Good luck man

oh yeah I'm from New Jersey, My friend own a shop in Jersey and i'm sure if you pay for it he could get you everything you need to swap... Engine, Ecu, Tranny.. etc. That is as long as you are willing to pay for the shipping to cali.

how much are they charging you for cyclone engine?

i didn't call them. on their website when i checked it said $1500 for a front clip. that includes motor+ecu+tranny+harness and whatever else that's left on the clip. they're based in Cali and i didn't bother calling them to ask how much shipping cost would be. i just ended up rebuilding my motor. whick i think now was a mistake coz it's still a 7-bolt. my bottom end is now built to take punishments but the 7-bolt crankshaft may not be so willing. :thumbdown

there's also a few places here in NY where i can get J-spec motors. there's Full Throttle here in queens which i ordered an Evo 3 motor but there was none in stock and they didn't know when it was coming. there's also Royal Motors. they're OK but i just went with a re-build. i re-built the bottom end. forged pistons, eagle rods, polished used 7-bolt crank, metal gaskets. you can still tell me the site of the NJ place coz a friend of miine is looking for a motor. thanks
