I have been away from DSMs for quite some time, had one a few years ago that i done basic bolt ons too. The guy i used to use for head work is no longer around appearantly. I have been looking the last few days online for where to get a head machined near memphis, TN. I am only needing to get it inspected, resurfaced for a metal gasket, and install new springs and retainers. Thanks for the help in advance!

Im not from your area but i know alot of people part out unused builds from your area for cheap u mine as well buy one already done with High end stuff for the price of redoing your stock.

I would have one of the vendors do it from the site. There is a guy in the freelancing section that does them. he isn't the cheapest but you could try him. I got a quote from him for 5 angle valve,1mm over, and porting it was around 700.

Wow thanks for all the quick replies guys! Tin_tin13 that's exactly what I was looking for! Reason I'm trying to go el chepo on this and not upgrade alot is I only have 1100 in the entire car, 96 tsi fwd manual, and I am wanting to over haul the motor new gaskets, seals, whatever else it needs to be leak free and in good shape.. When I parked it it run fine just leaked a little oil around the head gasket and had started to run hot on me. Parked it and got approved for a brand new genesis now just want to make a project of it. Will do all the body work paint and engine work myself except of course what I am not able to like machine work. If it works out awesome ill have a nice rebuilt dsm I did myself.. If not I'm not outta pocket much! LOL

There's a shop up here called AMS the guy has been doin engine machine work an building engines for 40 years that where I get all my machine work done, he does a great job and is buy far the cheapest place I know of, just got my block and head back last week, he bored the block .020 over, decked the block, and shaved the head for $160, he does 3 or 5 angle valve jobs for $65

$65 for a valve job?? Damn that is cheap. I pay more than that for 1 cutter blade for cutting valve seats.

I know what I put into a head time wise, from tear down, tech, cleaning and machining and assembly. Not including cleaning, chemicals and equipment payments. $645 would not cover it.

What does he use for cutting seats? Or is it an old stone valve seat grinder?

Dale aka BogusSvo is the man. Like Wil-Own said he knows his stuff and backs his work doesn't get better than that. Speaking of machine work, GET TO WORK DALE I WANT MY MOTOR BACK!!!! Lol jk Dale

Ya he's cheap as hell, and I'm not really sure I didn't get it done just ask what he would charge me for it if i wanted it done later down the road when i upgrade my valvetrain when I picked my head and block up an he said $65-$80 I can ask him though and let ya know, I'd say it's probably old school though because he told hes had his own little shop there for 30 or 40 years, I always thought 3 or 5 angle jobs were expensive till I ask him and I cldnt beleive it LOL, but another I'f machine shop up here wanted $250 just to bore an deck my block, he bored it decked it and shaved the head for $165, an he does good work a couple of my buddies get all there machine work done there one has a 450hp galant and the other has a 613hp 1g talon, those are accually the two cars that made me go from v8s to Dsm after riding in them LOL
