Ok guys here's what im up to now:D ok today i picked up my head from my machine shop. first this is the deal he gave me. he took my vavletrain out. after im done porting and polishing it hes goin to acid tank it and deck it as much as i want for $50. im really good freinds with the guy thats how i get this work done cheap. well i told him what i want to do with the head. i want it port&polished 1mm over sized vavles(stainless steel) dual vavle springs, titanium retainers, decked .040-.050, 3 angle vavle job, hks 272 cams, and adjustable cam gears. is there anything else you guys think i should do to it. oh and he gave me a price on puttting the vavles back it and the 3 angle vavle job. he told me 175 for putting the oversized vavles, and 125 for the 3 angle. what do oyu guys think is that a good price?

will the 92 7 bolt head fit on my 91 bolt? i need to no befor i dump to much in it.:sosad:

provided you have the 2.0 DOHC 4G63 engine, yes it will. and up to 92.5 all 4G63's were 6 bolt. after 92.5 they started introducing the 7 bolts. i put a head from a 95 GSX on my 92 4G63 6 bolt NT engine when i rebuilt the head, so if your 2.0L im sure it'll bolt up.

yeah the motor i got the head off was a 7 bolt because it was sitting on the grount next to the car with the tranny offROFL but swwet if it will work thats wonderful thanks for the help

yeah the head will work for the 6 bolt and for the price thats a killer man i wish i could get my head done for that cheap. they charge me about 400-500 bucks to do mine at the machine shop.

As long as they were both 4g63 motor then it will work. The diff in the 6 and 7 bolt was the crank. I see your running a non turbo motor. Have you read up on using the turbo intake cam?? I along with many others have done this and noticed a change in power.:dsm:

for future reference all 4G63 heads and blocks will bolt up(except for the Evo 4G63). just pay attention as to whether you are putting a turbo head on an NT(or vise versa), the head i got had the oil galley to the cam open. someone took the screw out of it. glad i noticed that and didnt start it up without it in. i took one from my NT head. also im not 100% sure, but when i put the turbo head on my car i got a compression drop as well. i guess its good if you want to go turbo. i know it wasn't bad rings or anything as i rebuilt the engine. just throwin that out there just in case.

Thanks thats great info! the head was off of a N/T. so i should be good. how far should i get my head decked remember im going N/A so dont be shy. LOL!

i have heard of people decking their heads as far as .060 starting out with a 9.4:1 comp ratio i believe. i got this from 2gnt.com, but the same terminology applies. and it should give you a pretty good idea of how far you may be able to take it provided you don't raise compression with pistons too.

0.020"=9.7:1
0.030"=10.0:1
0.040"=10.2:1
0.050"=10.4:1
0.060"=10.6:1

Wow this is great info thanks so much man. Kevin

no problem man, keep in mind that the starting compression of that above is i believe 9.4:1 on the 2.4L 420a engine. but the same terminology should apply to any engine of similiar comp ratios. with that being said, figure that decking your head .060" will give you roughly 1.2:1 more compression. also, roughly a 4% hp increase as well.
