I'm thinking of getting an EVO3 engine swap, who's a reputable shop that I should go with? Also, how much would the engine (and ecu) cost? Thanks.

Well, If he got the EVO III engine it would be about 10 years newer and have about 100,000 less miles on it........

My engine is blown and basically need an rebuild. And I just thought I might as well upgrade to an Evo3 engine. My stock engine is 195hp, the EVO3 is 250hp, so I would gain 55hp if I swap. So anyone know how much it would cost and where to get one? I searched and found FlashOptions, but their reputation doesn't seem that good. Are they ok now? Or should I go with someone else? thx.

It would cost less to rebuild a 6 bolt and slap injectors/afc/e316g on. Chances are you'll end up getting a GVR4 motor anyway.

However, an evo3 engine won't bolt into a 1g. The front roll-stop is on the transmission, ala 2G, as opposed to on the block.

rebuild you motor for a 1000 bucks or less(depending on what is wrong with it), buy some 550, afc and racegas and you will be past the 250 hp mark

Ya do the rebuild or find another motor for sale in the U.S. The Evo engine is 99% the same as the one you currently have.

HMm swap to an evo3 turbo, injectors and safc and run strictly on 100 octane gas and I bet you can easily have 250 hp on your "preinstalled evo 3" as well.
or jsut put the engine in and havethe same 190hp you have now. :coy:

Ok you guys are escaping the main and most important point, A EVO ENGINE WILL NOT FIT IN A 6-BOLT CAR PERIOD. the 4g63 found in the evo are 7 bolt and are not gonna fit in a 1g car. Yes i know that some 1g cars came with 7 bolts but still the evo engine will not fit in a 1g PERIOD. You should find out how bad you blcok is and if it is still ok get it machined ei: bored .02 over with some nice forged maybe 2g pistons to raise compression, decked and balanced. Throw in some arp hardware with a metal HG a 3 angle valve job up top you will be in just as good of shape as a used evo engine. Don't anyone say he would get a new evo engine because that aint happening. JDM with 35k or less yes but 0 miles NO. Good luck to you though man whichever route you go I know how tedious a rebuild can get. :thumb:

Q:Why not?

A second gen 4g63t engine fits in a 1st gen chassis, and a first gen 6 bolt or 7 bolt 4g63t fits on a 2g chassis.

a second gen 4g63t = evo3 engine.

don't see why it magically wont fit?

ok the evolutions are only more powerful that the talon/eclipse/lasers for four reason increased intake flow via intake manifold and i think maybe a slightly diffrent head higher compression than the 1g's and the good ol 16g. Throw some 2g pistons on ig big rods get a 16g or even better a 20g and wonder why ppl pay 30+k for something slower than what you have.

If you want to call and talk to a shop about it call me. I live in northern CA and the car I just bought had the swap done by a near by shop. Its one of the cleanest motor swaps I have ever seen done before. send me an e-mail to [email protected] and I can give you that info.

Why do you think they're the same engine cause they're both 4g63. NOPE! But hey if you think i'm full of it do a little search on here and check out for yourself. The EVO engine and the 2g engine are not the same engine. Don't say stuff like that have this guy going out buying a 3k engine and finding out it won't fit when 2k would have got him a built 6 bolt rebuild.

Unless they modified the JDM cyclone engine, cause they are only supposed to have 225hp or so.

Any good shops in NV? I can't drive to CA to get this done. This is part of my way of doing research. Thanks.

I'm not even sure what your trying to say. Are you saying that he is confusing an EVO engine with a modified cyclone engine? By the way ONLY 225hp stock is good on a platform like the 4g63. That 195-225 hp diffrence can be exactly what you need to put you over the top and get you to your goal. By the way the cyclone is the same as our engines just has dual runner intake manifold. There might be one or more things to but that is the main thing I can think of off the top of my head. Anyway main point don't waste your money on an evo engine cause it won't fit. If you have that kinda money to throw away (3k just for engine) go get a forged rod piston combo with 8:5:1 compression a metal HG some arp hardware and do some descent head work and you will have something that makes just as much hp if not more with ALOT more potential. Not to menton JDM import engines can be suspect. I got one for my old supra thing blew a HG and was toast in less than 1 month and sure you have a warrenty but back then i didn't mess with takin engines out so i would have had to pay someon anothe 1k to take it out maybe 300 for shippin than hope that what it is is covered

I searched on some Honda forums, it seems like Jazz Pro has some bad reputations, so I'm not going to buy from them. If I just get the Cyclone engine and ecu, will my trans fit? Thanks.

Inside a nice, new EVO, for less money that trying to put it in a DSM.

Do a couple of searches, and we won't make fun of your embarrassment when you realize.

Put "CYCLONE" out of your mind. It's just a manifold.
