My belhousing broke... it's a long story but basically the output shaft snapped clean off. Does anyone know where I can purchase another one. I've checked all of the junkyards within 100 miles and nobody has one. I've got a 1995 GSX made in March of '95.

The bellhousing is the same as the 1g awd trannys. you have to swap out all your guts tho, and might as well do a rebuild while youre at it.

This is not true.

The 1G and 2G bellhousings are very different.

One, of the few major difference is the 2G bellhousing has front and rear mounts and the 1G mounts are located on the engine block.

You buy new housings at the dealer or you can usally get a use "box" at a junkyard at a decent price. Your best option is if you have a welder in the area a cracked housing can be repaired pretty easily (if you have all the pieces).

Actually you are correct, i was thinking something completely differant. The bellhousing is the ONLY part that is differant on those trannys, everything else is interchangable, but you have to be careful of the xfer case and final drive ratios. If you use 1g guts, use the 1g xfer case.

And as for welding, good luck. The typical do-it-yourselfer doesnt have access to anything that can weld aluminum. Even if so, it sounds like this is past repairable status. Just try to find a blown 2g, snag the tranny and part the rest out.

I have a broken 2g AWD tranny, the case is perfect, not sure whats broke inside. I got ripped $500 on it however (said it worked) so I would actually like to pull like $300 out of it. I know thats kinda high, but just thought I'd mention it incase you cant find one anywhere else.

it's deffinately beyond repairable status... I think I found one in alabama actually, but I might want your's (98tsiawd) if he doesn't contact me today... plus it'd take 1/2 as long to get it here from ND...

Just let me know, tehre is a guy on dsmlink interested in it, not sure if he is really serious tho. I already have a box to ship it in, so I could send it out quick.

um, i too am looking for a bellhousing, mine has a nice HOLE in it, and I'm rebuilding the tranny, but the bellhousing needs to be replaced, 98tsiAWD if you still ahve that one let me know...
