O.K. Here's the deal. A few months back my friend found a used JDM motor for me. He got it from the same place he got his motor from, NAD Auto. They have a good rep around the shop he work's at. Well, I ended up with a VR4-RS motor, B16G and 510's all that good stuff. It was bolted to the stock JDM RS tranny, which I can't use because the final drive is different in the RS.
Everything checked out great on the motor but I noticed something odd. The engine had Splitfire 8.8 wires and Splitfire plug's in it. The wires were very worn and looked to be at least 8 years old. The plug's looked in good shape, but aged too. So this motor was in a JDM car....but do they sell Splitfire in Japan???
We changed the timing belt which looked to be the origional belt, but in good shape. The water pump also was the origional and in great shape. We replaced it anyway's.
The B16g is in perfect working order and no shaft play. Compression test came out good too. We did one even though the place we purchased did one as well. We wanted to check there numbers. It's been in my car and runing like a champ now for a month so at least it seems good for now! There's really no way of knowing with these motors is there?
