I'm working on my brothers 98 eclipse n/t and there is 1 wire coming out of the wire harness right around where the bellhousing and engine meet. It can almost reach the egr valve, and it is black with a red stripe. Anybody know where this goes? Thanks!

Probably the noise capacitor/condensor.

Easily seen attached to the front of the block, on the right of the right-most core plug in this picture.

A picture keeps us from the "probablies". We're pretty good guesserers (yeah, I made that up :D) but the most effective plan would be a pic.

Thanks guys. I would post a pic but have no knowledge on how to do so. I didn't see the little capacitor there so I guess mines missing. Thank you.

Okay, i went to the junkyard and looked at another eclipse and you were right. Its the capacitor thing.

There should be capacitor mounted to the cam angle sensor on a 420A head; and yes you need that capacitor.
