Hey Guys,
I just swapped out an alternator on my 1990 tsi awd. Definitely not the first time i've done this ROFL

Anyway, When I was done I noticed this little plug and I'm not sure where it went. It branches off of the main plug harness that goes to the alternator. I was thinking maybe oil pressure light or oil pressure gauge, but figured I would ask you guys.

Here is a picture of it:

Also, on my old alternator there is a little capacitor-looking thing that bolts to the body of the alternator and has a single wire that goes to the power terminal of the alternator. I forgot to swap this over to the new unit. What does it do? Should I swap it over? Thanks!!!

Awesome. Thanks guys!

Any idea about the little capacitor-looking thing I mentioned?

The plug goes to a pressure switch on the PS pump as mentioned, and is used to increase engine RPM and make steering easier during low speed turns.

The capacitor is a filter that suppresses noise spikes on the electrical system. There are one or two more of them at various places, such as the one grounded to the firewall by the windshield wiper motor. Although not absolutely necessary, they can help prevent weird issues with sensors, noisy radios, etc.
