montreal,
I weld my center differential and while my tranny was open, I decided to inspect the rest of my tranny for wear. All work is done now but I'm stuck with two unknown parts.

I'd like to call it weight reduction but I prefer ask your help to find where they goes.

As my rebuild project was paused for 6 month, odds are that maybe these parts doesn't belong in the tranny and got mixed up.

That shim belongs inside the center diff, it sets the clearance on the spider gears. As for the other piece I'm not sure. I've been in my trans more times than I'd like to admit and I don't remember a piece like that.

Ok so as my center diff is now welded, I don't need the shim anymore do I?

For the other part, like I said, I'm not even sure It goes in the tranny. It may be a part from something else that got in the box while moving things.

Thanks for the help!

Syndicate13 is right about the shim going inside the center diff and i dont think u need it for the welded diff. I dont know what the other part is but i no it doesnt belong in your transmission. Its good to see people attempting to pull their own trannys apart. Most people are too scared because of all the small parts:D

Yeah I talked to a lot of people before tearing apart my tranny and everyone was discouraging me. I finaly did it and it wasn't that bad at all. Taking your time is the best thing you can do to ensure everything is ok.

Thanks fo the reply

That piece thats up by your fingers looks like it belongs on the end of a cable of some sort. Looks like the cable runs through it and that brass piece hooks onto a bracket....maybe???

Call shep see if he can look at this thread and tell you were that little piece goes. Yea I agree looks like a cable runs thew it for the parking brake LOL dont think that belongs in the trany.

Ok so you were right. I installed my tranny and it is fine except it is hard to shift but I think that it is because I went to the tight side when shimming the shafts.

Thanks to you
