assuming one felt confident in rebuilding his own manual tranny where do you get the parts

I was just going to post that. I guess I'm not the only one wanting to rebuild their tranny themselves.

Its not really too super hard i had to tear mine down yesterday cause i broke 3 teeth of second gear (LOL) please dont ask how but anyway if you are mechanically inclined it shouldnt be hard ,id rather rebuildthe thing then take it out if that gives you an idea ... and vfaq.com has a write up about it

im a nissan technician so mechanical ability's not a problem just cant find anywhere to buy a rebuild kit for it

and your not kiddin the tranny in my 97 gst was an sob to get out by itself i think id rather pull the engine and tranny not just the tranny did a clutch recently on it but i have a 90 awd project i need to work on at the moment

I recently rebuilt my 5-speed, although mine is a 1G and yours is a lot newer, I could find NO aftermarket companies that supplied any overhaul parts. I HAD to go to the dealer for all of the; bearings, clutchless sincro's, and ring & pinion. $900-two weeks out of japan for just parts. I hope its different for 2G! :laser:

actually the one i was going to rebuild is in a 90 tsi awd i just bought

I just got done rebuilding my manual transmission on my 95 awd talon. All of the shaft end bearings , shaft seals, and the nuts for intermediate and input shats, i got in a kit from drivetrain.com. Otherwise teamrip was great for getting aftermarket parts and upgrade parts and will sell the parts outright. I got my synchro rings and my gvr4 input shaft/ first gear from teamrip. I broke down and got the end bearing spacers from the dealer. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I did this at one time as well. TRE was really a big help. Good prices as well. I also bought an extra two shot trannys for parts to help with the project.

The Haynes 1G manual has a really good set of diagrams of your trans. There isn't a difference inside the 23 spline 1G and 2G trans.
