You got your new shiney head back from the shop and you don't have pictures for us? Fail.:D
Sounds like its a party at Travis's this weekend. :thumb: Tony has been missing in action for the past few days. Don't know what's up with him. Probably found a new girlfriend. Tony....your eye sight still messing with you?

As you may know, All of the coolest cars are Quad-Turbo.
Being "BAMF" is the best part.

Hold on.....I may be a little behind with this discussion, but is this a 4g63 turbo mirage?
Where's my bolts man? Guess I'm not cool enough.:barf:

Our bolts are for the factory "style" pressure plate. People on here have been snapping the stock bolts when installing the 6 puck clutch. If you want, give me one of your grade 8's that came with your PTT, and I can take it to get matched up for some 10.9's

I was just joking man. I know I got different bolts. I may do that upgrade to the bolts though. Thanks for offering. Whats up with that mirage? 4g63?

I couldn't even get 35 mpg in my '92 corolla (3speed). Ok well now that I'm up, i have to eat and get over to the garage and start putting that head together.

The head got decked and the surface looks nice, but the rest of the head is still a little dirty. I may try to clean it up myself some. I wasn't paying the machine shop to detail it for me, just want my HG to seal.

A case of brake clean and a pack of dollar store tooth brushes. Have at it!!

Tony, are you making the trip down to Gooberlog County this weekend?

As far as brake clean and brushes go: check and check!
I'm on call Saturday so I'm not sure what will happen. Usually i do nothing on Saturdays I'm on call but two weeks ago I was busy for over six hours???

I haven't heard anything from Travis asking us to come down. He did say he was on call. I'm down for whatever. If not Im just gonna work on stripping the car. Haven't had much time to do anything with it. My head should be back in 1 week,so I definitely have to get a move
on.Got status the head is at the machine shop getting cleaned, decked, and guides removed. Soon as it comes back, its going in . I'm done BS'n with this 18 mo build. If she blows up, she blows up. I just wanna drive this thing already.:barf:

Noones told me anything bout doing anything....i must of missed something

I'm not sure what all is going on. Someone was taking about hanging out at the shop this weekend.

As for me, Saturday I'm on call so I'm not sure when I'll get off work. Sunday i have to meet with our real estate agent and then i can play on the car. Russ is supposed to come down Sunday to tinker with a parts car. I have a few things to do on my car, but i'm kinda at a down point right now. I found out my valve guides are trashed and i need to take the head to a machine shop before i can put it on. I still need to order the guides to day as well. Once the head is back, i can put the head together and get the ball rolling again.
Last night i was scuffing and painting below my battery on my front subframe where i had some light rusting. I may have to go back and paint he other half of the rear subframe as the left side looks soo fresh now. I also started to install my ARP head studs, but i think i'm going to have to tap the threads cause half of them wont let the studs thread in past 2/3s way.

I'm not sure about Late Night Tony or you other guys, but today i got some work done on the DSM. My buddy Matt came over and got the fire lit under my ass. We got the front subframe bushings replaced with some polly ones i bought a while ago. Got the ARP head studs installed right after cleaning up the threads some more. I'm going to order some valve guides tonight and when they come in I'll take the head to the machine shop so when i get it back i can get that thing where it belongs.

Russ, If you don't end up buying my 2G wheels, you should probably go ahead and spend some money on a set of these

I like the offset of these...

I just got a deal on renting a paint booth for my car(s) {50bux for each car}. I want to drive it up to give you guys some inspiration, but I don't think I can pass this up. So the car may be down for a few more weeks, or I may just wait until the rain season is over to paint it.

Russ if they offered that to you, I would jump on it! Does this mean a trip back to crazy rays and my garage to do the 1Gb conversion for the front?

I'm seriously thinking about it. I may start with the mirage first. All that thing needs is the rust removed on the roof, and some peeling clear coat. For the GSX, I'm thinking about doing a two-tone gloss top and flat hot-rod style black bottom, but I'm really leaning towards a full gloss black.

UPDATE: Ok boys and girls, I got my new valve guides in today. I ordered the SuperTech standard diameter bronze guides. The site did not specify, but on the packaging for the guides, it does specify that the guides have to be reamed to match the valves i'm installing. I read online that some guides are ready to go out of the box, but some are under cut to be reamed out to match the valves. The only thing this means to me is more time and money at the machine shop. Hopefully they don't rape me with the estimate, but I'll be dropping off the head in the morning.

I'm hoping they can have it done by Thursday since that's my day off and I could start putting my d@mn car back together. My buddy who's garage I use is being really cool about it and he wants to see me do it right as opposed to half ass it to get the car out of the garage sooner. I feel like i haven't really taken any short cuts yet, and I'm assuming that I'll be able to get through this build with out taking any. Luckily I have been selling some of my spare parts in order to pay for the unexpected expense of new valve guides, but I'll have to keep selling parts at full steam in order to pay for that machine shop bill.

I never expected to have my engine build add up so high, but in comparison it's still very reasonable. While waiting for the guides to come in, my buddy Matt talked me in to installing the polly front sub-frame bushings i had laying around. I really wasn't looking forward to taking my car even FURTHER apart that it was with the engine and trans out already. Matt talked me in to dropping the front sub-frame since this would be the easiest time since the engine and trans were already out. The bushings came out and went in really easy, but getting that heavy sub-frame and rack reinstalled was a little more work. I'm just glad that we did it when we did, cause I doubt they would ever get installed any time soon.

I'd like to clean up some of my wiring but maybe i should wait for Adam to come by this weekend and give me some pointers.
I'll try to buy some batteries as i know i can only respect the pics.

I guess ill post an update on my progress. Head is at the machine shop for the second time getting the valve job, mill, and final assembly. It should be shipped this week. I did another cam swap and sold my KELFORD 272's for their 280's. This is more of a top end cam , but with the larger 3586, they should do me good. Hopefully. Picked up a few odds and ends I need as well like a fluidampr, fuel lab -8an filter, and -10 SS return. I must say that extreme psi rocks when it comes to speed. Got all these parts in 1 day. A little more pricey, but worth it. I got my new cams before I could send the old ones to the new buyer. LOL
I'm hoping to put the engine on the stand this weekend. I had a few hours yesterday to work on the gsx. I am amazed more and more at how thrown together this car was. That dude had no idea what he was doing when he assembled this motor. I have different size bolts everywhere , wires cut all through my harness and just twisted on the sensors , a mixture of studs and bolts holding on the exhaust manifold and 3 of them are not grabbing any threads, ect. This dude even has mismatched lifters in the head.14 stock lifters and 2 big bore revised lifters. Wtf!!! Kinda sucks cause I was hoping to use all the bolts on my build, but they are all mixed up. You can tell he just probably threw all the bolts in a bucket and used whatever fit. Oh well. You live, you learn. I'm just happy I have a huge box full of parts that needed to come off. Hopefully ill have the head off and all the stuff on my firewall off this weekend. My goal is to have as little as possible in the bay, and have all the wires tucked. Anyway...I'm moving along and all with a small craftsman tool set. One good thing the dude did that had this car was bought a brand-new Cam angle sensor from Mitsubishi. This just shows how clueless he was being it though these are a dime a dozen used. The one he bought cost over 450$ from Mitsubishi. LOL..
