Nice to see you got some time to work on it. I can't believe that car was thrown together like that. It's a shame so many people take so little pride in their work. Sounds like the tow of us may be doing some head work this weekend.

I know. Sad thing is Tony new the guy and new everything wrong with the car. I knew nothing about DSMs at the time and well..now you see why everything needs to be replaced. Don't forget that spun rod bearing also...

I have to get my oil pan cleaned up and painted, girdle installed, and rear main on before I drop the head on. I don't want to take the shortblock out of the plastic until I'm ready to seal up the bottom end. I'm afraid of rust in my moist garage. It's been sitting for about 1-1/2 yrs so any rust will spread really quick. I am however going to install the cams, rockets, lifters, cam gears ,ect and get her ready. :)

HAHA, that's all fine now. Just take your time installing all of those nice parts with the correct bolts and you'll have a nice finished car when you're done.

Another small update for me: I took my head to the machine shop again to have the guides installed and the machinist said that I should have new valve seats cut in since the guides can be pressed in just a hair off and you want the valve to seal perfect. Also the guides that i bought have to be reamed out to match the valve. Then he offered to assemble the head since he needs more of my parts to measure the spring height to shim them right after i have the valve seats cut, and if he assembles the head he will then do a leak test to make sure that the valves are sealing 100%. So for the added insurance and having him assemble the head for only $80 more, i went with it.
So I came home to box up my valve train parts to take back up there tomorrow, and i noticed the set of revised lifters i got from a guy only had 15 in the set. Tomorrow morning i'll be making some calls and trying to track down 1 revised lifter at the dealership i guess. Assuming that i had the parts to him tomorrow, he said it might be ready for me by this weekend. So other than picking up and dropping off parts, i guess i wont be doing much to the car other than some small stuff.

I didn't notice them in the picture before when I read the part of your rant that said "mixed matched lifters", but now that i've seen them...DIBS!!!

This should save much time and lots of running around for me tomorrow. I'll be lucky to get any sleep tonight. :boring:

It's not a problem. I can only imagine trying to find these local.

Very small update- I got the head, studs, Intake mani, and fuse box removed. I only have about an your each day, so its slow and steady. These next couple weeks should be nice because I'm working local. More time to mess with this pos. I got a LOT to do.

Nice work Adam. Hey, would you mind selling me your turbo water lines that came from the 16g on your blown motor?

Also, I'm still looking for a Non-maf intake pipe for the 16g. If you guys have anything laying around let me know, so I can get rid of this make-shift intake that's on the car now.

Do you mean the steel lines with the banjo bolt ? I think I cut the actual rubber going from the steel to the t-housing. Your welcome to have the steel lines. Since we are asking, do you happen to have a stock oil cooler from a 90? I need just the oil cooler. LMK when and how you want to get those lines. I'm going down to Travis's this weekend, so maybe you can come down again.

Yes the two coolant lines with banjo bolts on the front and rear of the turbo.

No, I dont have an oil cooler from a 90, but I can make some calls to try to find one.

What day are you guys meeting up? Sunday?

Change of plans. I'm not going to be able to come by this weekend. I had something unexpected come up. Sucks. Next weekend is MY WEEKEND! I told the girl, the dog, the job, ect. I'm doing nothing but DSM chit all weekend. I can come down probably Sunday evening this weekend, but its worthless.

Russ if you want those lines, you can come to my house Sunday afternoon. I'll be home doing stuff but your welcome to stop by.

Anyone up for a change of plan? Lol.

My bad you guys. Sunday Chris is stopping by to finish his bumper mockup Sunday sometime after 12:00. If you guys want to come up to my place, your welcome. It's either that or. I can come down after Chris ( gixerman) leaves. Either way, I'm ### remember, so me not being there isn't going to affect a damn thing..LOL

Lmk what you guys plan on doing and ill plan after you guys.

Well i mainly wanted to bring you those fenders. I was hoping you could work some of your electrical magic in helping me clean up some half a$$ wiring I did when i wired in a map sensor. Nothing bad though, just kinda messy. I guess we can hang out and drool at your mountain of parts and maybe get some food. Unless we ended up coming down my way and then we could tinker with my bucket a little.

Russ, did you want to meet up at Adam's place, if so should i bring that hood, I'll be bringing my truck so i have plenty of room to fit the fenders. I tried fitting them in the spyder and it was tight fit.

Not yet, I may be driving the mirage to save gas. I'll have my daughter until about 2pm tomorrow, so after that, I'm free to meet up.

I borrowed some assembly lube from a buddy and i bought some loctite at PaPa auto parts. I still need mine untill my head is on LOL I'll call you this afternoon about coming up to your house with some parts :)

Had a good time hanging out with the fellas. Guess Tony was still down south getting Jeff Gordon's signature?

LOL, Jeff Gordon!!! I look fat in that one pic. I'm glad you got the Mirage's good side!!

Stop hating on me when I'm not around damnit! You all are jealous, 3 days and nights of no women, well atleast no women that we have to take home, camp fires drinking grilling fast cars and race fuel! Couldn't get much better! Look at the time of this post, I've been on 70 coming into baltimore for 5mins, left bristol a little after 7pm, long ass drive. Over 900 miles on this trip

Good to see you guys. Had a good talk and gained some valued information.

Russ, I'm dying to see the 1g man. Thanks for the lines. I still got you with what we talked about. Don't worry.

Travis, thanks for the fenders. Lmk if you need anything at all. You need help with your wiring?

Small update:

Head is shipped. Should be here tomorrow. I ordered my new tensioner today along with the pullies, bunch of oem gaskets, rear main, oil cooler, front cover bolts, timing cover bolts, tensioner bolts, new belts ect.... basically just everything to put this thing together this weekend hopefully. This sucked getting this smaller stuff but I needed it considering every bolt is mismatched.

Now that sounds like a good time to me. By any chance did Mr. Gordon give you any Pepsi Max to hand out to us when you got back? ROFL

Maybe, just want a cleaner install in some areas like where i hacked in a map sensor. The autozone type stores don't seem to sell electrical supplies that provide a nice looking finished product.

Glad you went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered those things. I know it sucks and the stupid stuff can be stupid expensive, but it's necessary. I haven't heard from the machine shop on my head, but they were expecting it to be ready on Saturday, so I'll be calling them in the morning to see if i can come pick it up. If so, it sounds like the both of us will be doing work.

Travis believe it or not,, yes and no. no gordon but lots of hot chicks handing it out all over the place... and on the way out they had buckets of them they were giving out. i think we got like 2 cases, i couldnt carry any more
