Sorry to hear about the volvo passing away Russ. Did everything turn out ok on the clutch job? I think i remember you being concerned about it being something other than a clutch issue. Is she all good now? Are you going to rock the SOHC engine for a while and score on the good MPG charts?

I have to talk to my mom to set up a time to go up to her house (most likely Saturday) and then I'll hit up Adam to see if his schedule works out to give me a hand and I'd like to stop by JSI for a while to chase some goats around and what not. I work till 2pm or so Saturday though.

Clutch job for the mirage worked out fine. Gas mileage is roughly 360 +/- to a tank. Maybe $25 or so to fill. Next up is my 1g. That clutch should be arriving on monday. That one I hope not to find any other issues than the clutch or bent fork. I have a new oem bearing, new fork and six puck going in.

So by the time i got out of the Ft Mchenry tunnel, it was already 25 min. Took 47 min to get to my house. No traffic, hit 3 or 4 lights on honey-go, no wait at the toll and cruising speed limit or 5mph above. It's a hike no matter how you look at it. But yeah definitely faster than going down 1 to 695. I think it was 12 min just to get to 95 by the whitemarsh mall. Maybe your guys speedometers are off, or your clocks?? Worth the drive either way.

You drive to slow. :notgood: Hope you Mom likes her HD.

Thanks again man, I'm sure she'll love it.

I was doing the speed limit or higher, did see a cop halfway down Honey-go. I slowed down for a while past the construction zone too, but other wise i was in the fast lane going faster than 90% of everyone else on I95.

So Adam and Tony, when will your 1Gs be going under the knife for major plastic surgery? I want to see some hotness next time i look under your hoods. For me, I'm going to see what kind of deal my buddy Mark can do for me on some small parts and I plan on listing all the parts for sale that I don't plan on keeping.

Transmission left and right is no joke. My Mirage's trans blew up yesterday, so I went up to Hawkins point this morning, grabbed a 140k trans with good fluid in it for $100. When i drained the fluid from the old trans, it was mostly metallic. This car has about 204k on it, so I wasn't that upset that the trans blew.

Got a little work done today. I only has a few hours but got the following removed.

Front bumper cover, bumper support, front lights, intercooler, intercooler piping, bov, coolant overflow, windshield fuild res., sparkplug wires, misc. hoses, misc. plugs removed, cruise control lines, fuel rail, ect...

Got a nice size box of parts going. It takes me a little longer than most because of the lack of tools and trying to break loose 20 year old rusted bolts. I have noticed the more I look at this motor, harness , body ect.. the more I see the last guy was a total scab. The main harness has been cut and spliced, there are different size bolts holding things together, and most all the plugs have been cut and just taped or twisted together. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Kinda sucks cause I was hoping to be able to reuse the same bolts, but most of the bolts are either wrong or different size. Looks like I am resorting back to the old "Haynes or Mitchel" manual. I also found a small section that has started to rust through. I think I'm going to sand it all up and reweld the area. I guess in the big scheme of things, this little bit of rust on a 20 year old car isnt bad at all.

I don't know why I can't get these photo's to load ..

Yeah just jump on that rust. It'll spread like wild fire. As for all of those bolts, that's when it's good to have a near complete parts car. The one you guys had would have been really helpful for that kind of small stuff like bolts and what not, but no one ever has a place to keep a car that will never run again.

Let me know if you or Tony are looking for a CF hood for your car for around $300.

CF hood? Man..I wish I could. Do you know someone that has one? I think I need to focus more on getting my head built and put on the road before I worry about CF. It would be nice though:hmm:

On another note, I stumbled across this on link. You may have seen this already, but if not, its deff. worth the 14 min video.

i have been flirting with the idea of a cf hood but havent committed to it yet. As far as the extra nuts and bolts, i have a a gallon jug or 2 of extras from dsm's over the years, should be toooo much of a issue there:thumb:

Holly cow man. That's your third trans you've pulled this week isn't it?!

It'll be the second, then tomorrow, the 1g tranny comes out for my new clutch that came in today (xtd stage 4). Hopefully all is good, as I am using all brand new parts. I'll try to post pics up of the clutch before it goes in. It really looks decently made. Alot of guys are having good luck with this thing, so I hope it stays together for me.

Anybody have any updates? I know Tony is happy and should have some updates.. FINALLY!!!!! He actually spent some money and actually sent money through paypal. WOW!!! Good job buddy. Can't wait to see it, and help install it. You going to install it before you drop the motor in?

I need to hear some DSM build stuff. I'm going through withdraws! My mind sent me that awfull thought today I so try to never think about... It starts with a "p" and ends in "artout". My mind is asking me if I will ever be done, and when I do get it done, will It be what I hope it will be? I already had to tear up a list I made of all my parts and the amount I would charge. WTF!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! LOL. I gotta get home and grab a wrench ASAP!

Don't even get me started, if you parted out your PARTS PILE you would loose so much money it's sick. Granted a lot of your parts you already got great deals on, but anything you bought new you would take a big hit.

As for updates, i ordered a set of evo8 valve springs and retainers from a guy on link forums and i just ordered a new timing belt tonight. I have to finalize a list of stuff i need to order for the rest of my top end stuff. Once i have all of those parts and a few Ducket$ set aside for the machine shop to deck my head, then i'll pull out my long block and get to work.

Tony what did you buy already? As for future purchases, i agree it would be good to have some gauges for towing with the 3500MAX, like EGT and trans temp, but you need to get your build started and wrapped up or there will be no need for those gauges LOL. Honestly though, I'm trying to focus on getting my car done as i'm sure you guys will worry about your selves unless you need a hand or some help.

I got a couple side jobs lined up at my buddies garage tomorrow on my day off (well today- it's 12.45am) so hopefully i'll make the money that i need to get the rest of these parts and machine shop paid.

Gots me a new fmic... Gauges for max are a must, i have a trans temp in the dash so egt and boost for me. Flirting with the idea of yanking motor this weekend, depends in im lazy or not, Or if adam wants to get his first one under his belt:thumb:

Let me know either way. It would be nice to get a preview practice run of exactly what i'll be doing here shortly. Pretty obvious but practice never hurts. Are you thinking of pulling her out Saturday? I'm "on call" at noon but it's usually slow so i could see if i could just have off.

For the 3500, is the trans temp gauge an actual gauge or just a warning light, and is it accurate or is it more like a DSMs stock boost gauge?
