Investment my ass, im was looking to rent not buy! Although the more you find the cheaper there getting. Oh well we dont find one we can afford you 2 going to have to man up, no excuses come summer time for not going. Tundra will just need a trans cooler added and adam will have to enterprize a truck!:ohdamn:
Since I couldn't find anyone that Rents multiple car trailers, i doubt that is going to work, unless you MAN UP and scoop up one of those trailers i posted from CL. As for the Tundra, I've been doing some research on it. I'm thinking if i were able to get a lighter trailer that had brakes i might be in decent shape. As for the shoot out in Ohio, i think i might hit every gas station on the way there pulling my car. I get 16mpg avg and through the mountains I'm guessing 3 mph haha. I would prob want to add a cooler like you said as well. As it sits, i think i'm good to pull it up to the NJ show down though. It might be better for me to spectate in OH though.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ok, who's ready for some DSM porn? :D This is the progress that has gotten done over the past few Thursdays. Today i hope to install the oil pan and that will be it for the bottom end for the most part. I need to order parts for the top end, some gaskets and seals and what not, and then i'll be ready to pull the long block out of the laser. I talked to my buddy and he said to let him know when i'm ready to pull the car in and as long as the snow situation is ok, I'm good to go.

Why don't you bring the laser out Sunday? Is she running still? You need to at least give that motor a good farewell beating..:thumb: Were going to put Tonys in a glass case.260000 very hard miles, and still getting it. Unbelievable if you ask me. My motor...is going to the dump. I'll bring the car up Sunday and you can see why.

On another note...I'm a little disappointed that my turbo didn't come today. The tracking said it was scheduled for today, but says the last place it was.scanned was Arkansas and hasn't left yet. Wtf! Total bummer. Hope someone didn't see the FP on the box and snatch it up. Well see tomorrow I guess. Still got a catch can and my exhaust dump today, so it wasn't a complete wash.

Thank you I take that as a big compliment! The oil pan was rough looking with lots of surface rust. I used a die grinder with some cookie pads to knock off the rust and scuff up the pan some. I then when over the intire pan with 220 grit paper thoroughly. Then i brake cleaned it off and dried it off. Then i wiped it down with acetone and dried it off with air. I then sprayed it with 3 coats of gloss black Brake Caliper paint. Then hit it with one can of clear. I really am super happy with how it turned out. Not to mention the killer welds on the -10AN bung i had welded on.

My clyinder head is going to be decked to match my block for the cometic head gasket most likely by Gunther's Machine way out in Walkersville, MD as they did excellent work with my block. The only other mods i plan for the head are EVO 8 springs and retainers which i ordered from Joe @ slowboy 17 days ago and he is yet to tell me why i don't have them yet. I'll have to call him again in a few.

I'll probably just drive the gst spyder up there again as it gets the best fuel economy out of the four of our cars. The reason i don't drive the laser far much is the suspension is annoying. The front struts are blown and with the 2" intrax springs any small bump and it slams the bump stops. The car is kinda low, but it's the whole bottoming out thing I hate. I did take the laser for a spin a couple days ago though and i floored it in second and then hit third and when the 27 pounds of boost came in the car steered hard right and then left and stabled out. Felt like a rwd car does when the ass kicks out, but the awd kept it in check.

My wife's dad is helping us on Saturday morning so i should be good for Sunday. Hopefully that turbo will get to you soon too!

Sooooooooooooooooooooo sundays the plan then? Laser should make the trip for sure, good lil pre full build photo opp for all 3 of us!! Plus all 3 cars out front of the shop could look good!.....Just Saying!

What do you mean you had nothing to do with the way your car is in it's current state? Did someone back in to it or something, other wise i think you may have everything to do with it ROFL

Which turbo did you get and why would it make me laugh? Smaller turbos have great spool and big turbos have more top end, it's all about personal preference and how you want the car to drive. I love the holset cause it has decent potential with quick spool for good streetability.

As fare as i know the rear ends in 1Gs are held in with four big bolts. The whole rear subframe should come down and then we can swap it over. Brake calipers may have to come off to stay up with the car, should be cake though.

What are you guys doing this weekend? I'm still looking for a clutch. Razcal, let me know what you have to go with that 2600. Im looking for an un'sprung hub.

Adam suggested 10:30ish, works good for me if Tony is cool with it.

Honestly it doesn't really matter to me. The 2g is more comfortable though, I guess I'll see how I feel Sunday morning. You know I'll be needing to make trips like this in the laser AFTER the motor is in and needing some break in miles.
 
Nah...man..I said that only because the dude I bought it from had an Ebay turbo put on thats blown, and the motor is tapping like all hell. I havent touched the car at all since I got it in 09'..LOL..Its been sitting that long. The car is completely stock with the exception of the wheels and exhaust. Car is clean except the passenger door has a few dents. I just cant wait to start digging into this thing and get the ball rolling. I have boxes upon boxes of parts to install. Thing is going to be a beast if it doesnt break.:D Actually I'm kinda expecting something to break. Hopefully its not the tranny or motor. Axles, transfer case, rear, thats all ok and can be replaced with little to no down time.

So four bolts huh? Thats cool. Like I said , I havent been able to go under my car yet, so eveything is a mystery to me. I do know there is a coating of oil under the car due to there being a bad oil leak up front. The guy that put the motor in did some very shitttyy work and there are some major issue's with this motor. Thats why its easier to just replace it all.:thumb:

Oh yea..I don't think small turbo's arent fun. I think the 16G is one of the best turbo's made. Makes great power, spools instantly, makes great times at the track, and is reliable as hell. What more can you ask for. I would like to see how those Holsets hit though. Never seen one in person. Maybe Sunday hopefully. Drive what you feel will be more comfortable though. Either way ill be bringing my nice camera.:sneaky:

Jsi automotive is on belair rd in kingsville just north of perry hall and south of fallston, that's where we will be on Sunday for a good part of the day if anyone is looking to swing by and hang out. I'm sure our cars will be out front somewhere or atleast my duramax will be. There's a kid in kingsville who has a 1gb who I'm hoping to hook if he sees our cars out there, never really got the chance to talk to him or check out his ride.

Yeah my street disk has gotten me to 11.7 so far. They do pretty well and drive great on the street. Luckily i have had good luck with the springs staying in place. I don't drive the 1G that much though.

Tony do you think there will be any parking Out Front of the shop? Last time there were a sea of cars in for service. Does 10:30 Sunday sound good, looks good for me and Adam.

10:30 works, there should be a little parking, if not i can always move stuff to make it work, pawn shop next door is closed on sundays so we have there hole store front open

We finished the work on our bathrooms so i have a day pass for tomorrow. I should be up there around 10:30 with one of my DSMs.

Its fine Travis..They have all kinds of cars over there. I park there all the time. They have cars sitting for sale on the corner on the property. I think the guy that owns it lives upstairs. Your good, trust me.

Just talked to Tony..he was digging the Talon out and getting it started. Battery was dead so he is putting it on the trickle. I went out side and mine was dead too :cry: ( F'n cold weather). Put mine on the charger also. I'll see you guys up there.

No, prob just me. I haven't heard from them in a few days and it's too last minute at this point. Maybe i'll hit up a couple close DSM buddies and see if they're doing anything tomorrow though, 10 may be a little early for me to pick them up on a week end beer night:barf:

BTW I just finished installing my new radio in the GSX. I drove around all last summer without music. Next quick install is the power antenna that I didn't know was effed up.

Well fellas....we got some work done thanks to you guys. Travis and Ron or Ross:confused:
:rocks: I deffinetly owe you guys. That was a lot of freakin work. I'm tired, sore as hell, and cranky, but we actually finally got some work done and it was worth it. I am pissed about the huge dent in my car from the tranny jack. Oh well, what can you do. You guys are some soldiers staying there that long. Once again thank you.

Oh yea.... Lmk if you know somone that is looking for a air conditioned block. I got one cheap with plenty of ventilation.:thumb:
