I have been slowly but surely modifying my gst. So far not much at all but it's a start. I have a new clutch and flywheel installed, plugs and wires, intake, 1g bov and shocks. Next i am going to get new injectors and a fuel pump and rewire kit. My question here is when i get my new evo3 turbo would i need to first get an exhaust set up to notice any significant gains? Would the stock setup be to restrictive? I plan to eventually get a nice exhaust anyways, but i like the nice quietness of the stock one for now. I have just gotten really frustrated with the lack of power over 4k rpm's with the t25, but of course want to make sure all the supporting mods are completed prior to upgrading such a crucial part.

Turbo upgrade before exhaust? Come on guy.

I just put a stock turbo-back on my car the other day to pass emissions - let me tell you.. The car felt like it was in a LOT of pain just driving with that crazy restrictive exhaust. I didn't go over 10psi or 4k just because it felt so wrong.

Get an exhaust.

Not to hijack the thread or anything but I'm kind of in the same situation and figure knowing this will help him out too.

I want to change out my turbo for the evo3 16g too but if I get an exhaust (whole turbo back) on the stock t-25 would I have fitment issues when I did finally try to put the 16g in down the road?

get the exhaust. Why would you want to throw more air into the engine when that air cant get out of the car any faster?

Fitment should be fine, my N1 exhaust with a N1 dp sounds good and bolts right up to my set-up and i too am runnig a t25 (only at the moment) exhaust is the first thing you are going to want to do before doing any Mods, good airflow is the key to more hp.

I also ran a 16g for a couple months but now i want to go bigger, you are going to want the following to run a 16g: Exhaust, Highflow dp or testpipe, bigger injectors, something to control the injectors, upgraded intercooler, performance clutch (optional) gauges, boost controller, bigger intake, upgraded bov.

After you get all this you will get alot more power out of that 16g!

Just do things right the first time so you dont gotta go back and fix them later after stuff gets all F****D up!

Best of luck!

Ok i'll have to get a custom exhaust put on then as soon as i have enough money together. a 2.5" exhaust is fine if i am not planning on running a ton of power right? Like never more than 300, most likely only something like 250 or so. Also from what i have heard a 3" exhaust is alot more prone to boost creep. Is that true?

I dunno bout the boost creep i have 3" and i have never had a problem with it, but yes 2.5 should be perfect if you never are going to run more then like 350hp

A better fuel pump might come in handy too :thumb:

You have a evo316g turbo too? I have just read that about the 16g that with a 3" downpipe it is very prone to boost creep especially if you don't port the 02 housing and such

Yea i ran a 16g all summer and now i am to a point where i want to go bigger but yea my O2 housing was ported and such and i have all the parts i listed above (plus a fuel pump :D ) and the N1 dp and yea i never had any problems with boost creep.

If you're running a internal wastegate. By cutting your exhaust housing like below you'll eliminate boost creep.
