When do you shift? [Merged 7-8] points shifting revs point

Normal driving - 2000-2500 rpm

Racing -

1st - 7500rpm or bounce off rev limiter if there's tire spin

2nd - 5th 7200rpm

I don't know why I like shifting so late, but when I had my full exhaust on the car just kept pulling past redline. I honestly don't know wth you guys are talking about the t-25 losing steam by 6500

Now that I read the whole thread, i too wonder why everybody shifts so early.... 6000rpm?? A lot of people think revving higher will "hurt the engine". It's not exactly good for it, but it won't hurt it. The point of shifting at the right moment (right at redline or past) is to have the rpm drop on the "sweet spot", which is around 5000rpm. If you shift at 6000, you'd drop below 5000rpm, so you're actually going slower.

Yeah, It loses it by 6000:rolleyes:
When I had mine, I might as well got out and ran after 6k because it really just makes noise. Thats was 15 psi and stock exhasut though for comparison purposes:p
My current t28 and 3" back will pull HARD way past redline at 14-16.

BOT
I shift at 2500 until the coolant gauge is normal, the 7500 if I want. I drive like an old man most of the time unless I get:mad:

btw i usually shift right before the turbo spools at about 2500 for everyday normal shit, if i feel like cruisin i'll let it spool to 3500

if im racing i'll go to 6000

what typo? our cars are quite different you know...

Huh, thats funny becouse I only lose 500rpm when I shift in town. If you are loseing 1000rpm in as quick of a shift as you can make ummm.. you REALY need to work on your shifting.

How much the RPM drops has nothing to do with how fast you shift, and everything to do with gear ratios and what RPM you shift at.

Yes I can, and that wasn't a typo.. Ever think I meant to say two tits? Shut ur wormhole.

About 3Grand normal drivinng, 6,500 (rarely) when I race (wich has been less then 10X)

I'm sure when im turbo I will want to blow off at people but I will try and keep my normal shiftinng habits for the most part

I vented my bOV one day dispite the preformance loss it just sounded so sweet. Then after my car died a few times I said #### that and put it back like it should be.

Untill I get the GM MAFT no venting for me.

To the person that said "it depends on gear ratio's etc." ummm it's called revvvvv matchinnng ;)

Also unless you do something like put an auto rear on a 5 speed I dont see how you would change your gearing anyway. unless you had some custom geared tranny.

So are you saying when you shift say at... 7000rpm, your revs drop down to 6500rpm for the next gear? WOW you must have a bigass turbo or some realllyyyyyyy short gearing.

BTW you REALY <~~ did that on purpose, need to work on your spelling.

Im going to the track somtime soon and i was wondering what rpm to shift at. I am on the stock T25 turbo w/ apexi N1 exhaust, greddy type s Blow off valve, K&N air filter, and walbro 255 lph fuel pump. I know the T25 loses alot of its power at high rpms thats why i was wondering where i should shift at to get the best 1/4 times.
