im not really a newbie but i thought this was the most apropriate place to post this, i have a 96 n/t eclipse, its ripped apart right now gettin some engine work done to it, my question is about the fuel injectors, i know it is a must to have larger ones when you go turbo due to the added air flow through the engine, more air needes more fuel, well i need to know just when is it time to upgrade injectors/fuel pump, only when going over 200hp? or what, i will have a sheetmetal intake manifold, ported head bigger valves, and a cold air intake, 60mm throttle body, is bigger injectors needed for this setup? or will my factory ones be good enough for the extra air flow?

The mods you're mentioning here aren't really very smart for a normally asipirated 2GNT. They all work together to allow greater intake charge volume while the engine still only provides the NA suction to pull the charge in. If anything, you're going to lose power down low and only marginally gain anything in the top end, imo. Mods like an SMI, oversized valves, 60mm TB and portwork will blow your mind if you're turbocharged, but until that time, they are going to hurt you, I'm afraid. Just a little advice on the side for you.

As for the question about the injectors, you'll be fine. I have a full race port, oversized valves, ported TB (~56mm or so), shortie intake w/ a 3" K&N on the end of it, running Crower 2s and the AFX ECU on stock, never been cleaned, 168,000 miles on them injectors. I haven't hooked up my wbO2 yet, but she runs like a champ up top; pulls all the way to 8000rpm and gets better than 35mpg on the highway at ~100mph w/ the AC on (I-10 between Phoenix and Palm Springs), but in town, shifting under 4000rpm, she runs richer than Bill Gates. I get about three days out of a wash before the ass is covered in sooty, unburnt fuel.

If anything, you've got some time, take your injectors in to a local shop and have them cleaned out. Shouldn't cost more than $50 and you will know they all work and flow properly.
