aight so i want to get bigger injectors for my 1g eclipse. i'm lookin at some 650's or maybe even some 1000's. what i need to know is do i have to calibrate my MAF? and is there anything else i have to do other than a tune?

I manually tune my car. Right now I went back to stock injectors with my Impala SS MAF w/ MAFT & sport my fancy 40+mpg for my daily commutes. But if I went back to performance and my FWD turned into a AWD... I'd get ECMLink (previously DSMLink) to control my fuel maps especially when I'm adding on a larger fuel pump, injectors, rails, & def get new plugs & wires. ECMLink v3.0 (imo) is not a waste. It does act like a translator for GM MAFs (need to get couplings to fit in). I've not seen anything bad posted about v3 in the forums.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about fuel rails. From my knowledge you have to push fuel faster to get the delivery you need w/ smaller rails & lines or you can get larger rails & lines which hold more fuel and you don't need to worry about pushing it as fast. (the bandwidth factor*)

so... nutshell

ECMLink v3
GM MAF
Injectors ~750-1000 (depending on how wealthy you are)
Fuel Pump
Fuel Rails\Lines (I have to change them out on my diesel trucks, so why not DSMs?)
Plugs
Wires

And new tires b/c you're probably going to burn yours up from the sound of it.

Oh yeah. And patience & understanding to tune it. I can probably speak for the majority of us that it took some time to get it right.

With injectors up to 650cc, an SAFC or MAFT will have no problem handling this. These devices compensate by "hiding airflow" from the ecu. This puts things in a lower load map on the ecu with higher timing. Too high and it becomes dangerous which is usually above 650cc. These devices can be used successfully with larger injectors(750-1000cc) with the use of an eprom chip that fully compensates for the injectors and then you use the safc/maft for small adjustments.
DsmLink/Ds-Map will have the ability to control large injectors without a problem and have full timing/fuel contorl.
I suggest you spend quite a bit more time reading about your options for tuning before you jump into something. Also think about what your future goals will be down the line when factoring the decision

This is good advice. One last thing I will mention is this. If you even think you may want more power later on down the road then I would highly suggest do it right the first time so that you do not buy the same parts twice. I am a good example of this. Three years ago when I first got my dsm I wanted 300whp. I built the motor for a daily driver using all oem internals. Now im well over 400whp and am on the edge of what my rods will take. This summer I am going to have to build another motor to handle more power. I am currently on my 4th set of injectors. 450's, 550's, 750's and now 1600's<-- made sure I went big enough this time. My next set will be more 1600's but will have to run 8 injectors.
