Hello, I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, stock. I need to replace one of the front wheel hub bearings.

I was wondering what brands you guys got or recommend using? I know most people are going to recommend OEM which would be great aside from them being hard to find.

What are good aftermarket options that will fit correctly and not be shot within 1 year?

I did some research didn’t really see any good reviews or anyone confirming if it fits on Orillys/Autozone/Amazon.

Thanks

i got these for mine, great value and good quality. still running good on my car been going on for 2 years now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/131544467088
Thanks for the suggestion, is that for a RS front wheel drive Eclipse or what car do you have? I’m not too sure if the GSX or other trims are any different. I’m going see if I can just get 1 front wheel hub because I rather keep the others oem quality for now. But to be honest that’s pretty good $150 for a full set.

The Front bearings are all the same. And do both sides and both would have worn at the same rate. SKF seems to be the go to in the US

Did you get those for yours Eclipse? I’ll check that brand out.

I was hoping to just replace the one I really need. It’s the front passenger side. I figured it’s more prone to hit potholes or imperfections on the road. My thought was don’t fix what’s not broken especially once you start to add aftermarket stuff. I’d like the OEM but seems like that’s going to be hard to find.

I used a UK brand thats basically OEM reboxed but cost effective more so. Everything to the studs and markings were OEM and they not long ago went obsolete and as OEM has gone it ties in about right.

SKF have been used by many for years. I would need to check the available brands but I personally never opt for cheapness.

And yes doing one is easier but its going to not do you any favors later on for looking after it correctly.

Yeah I get your point regarding don’t cheap out. I agree I told my mechanic if I should get both, he said 1 was fine. But that was probably the budget answer. My worry was just how reliable the aftermarket ones are that I’d keep my OEM ones and just replace them as needed. That SKF one is pretty expensive at $225 at AutoZone. I’ll see if I can find a better deal on that same part in other sites

My fear is buying aftermarket parts that suck, last year I got all my motor mounts done all 4 (in 1 shot) I didn’t want to cheap out and they’re all shot didn’t even last a year (cheaply made). They were all from AutoZone. I’m trying to do my research on the wheel hubs so the same thing doesn’t happen.

Buy them from Rock Auto. Using the local stores will also screw you on prices.

- I've had good luck with aftermarket SKF, and Timken.
- Beck Arnley and Aisin are OEM brands. In fact Beck Arnley buys up OEM factory overstock. Can't ever go wrong with either of them.
- Altrom sells other brands in other brand boxes - good also.
- IMO - don't ever buy Duralast or Power Torque brand - total junk and won't last.
