wheel bearing

i just bought a 91 gsx and the guy said that he was going 70 mph for about 5 miles and the wheels locked up. he said it was like pulling the E brak. he told me that the wheel bearings were bad and i just whated to know if that is what it is. so if anyone with info on that please let me know. thanks

That doesn't sound like a wheel bearing problem, it sounds more like the transfer case recall.

Ouch. Doesnt sound good. Let me know if you guys are gonna do about it. Id check to see if the recall was done. My wheel bearing sounds like a knocking sound when i go about 65 or when im going around a bend. Atleast i think its the wheel bearing.

If a wheel bearing goes, it can lock up that particular wheel. When he had his lock up incident, was it more than one wheel (the difference would be doing multiple spins versus slowing down very quickly and flatspotting your tires, so he'd probably recall)? If so, the recall sounds more like the culprit, as it's VERY unlikely that two wheel bearings would fail simultaneously.
