Well this is getting repetitive. Was driving home today and heard a slight noise when slowing down to a set of lights. Turned the stereo down and realised the noise was coming from the front passenger side wheel. Each turn of the wheel gave a creaking door-type noise, which didn't stop when I put the foot on the brake. Drove a little longer and the noise went away, but it came back for a little while during the drive.
My first thought was wheel bearing, as I have heard this noise before. Heard it before (maybe twice) in fact, and it's been the same wheel bearing both times. Have jacked the car up and there is absolutely no play in the wheel though. The previous time this bearing went it was the same - no play at all. Last time when the bearing was replaced, the noise stopped but my mechanic said that the wheel bearing looked in fine condition.
Any idea what could be causing a single bearing to be doing this? Could it be something to do with the alignment? I'll get it replaced when I can but need the funds for road tax this month. Hopefully it won't get worse very quickly.
