ok i have my head off and like all my pistons are about in the middle of their cylinders, i put my ratchet on the crank pulley and start to turn till i run out of room and then when i let go it falls back as if i never turned it( the crank and pistons fall back to where they were to start with ) i just went down there to turn the crank to get the cylinders in place to time it so i get a full half rotation and then my ratchet starts hitting the frame so i let go to re adjust it and the second i let go it falls back to its previous position...
i have the head off cause i was blowing out blue smoke from the engine ( not exhaust ) and my head gasket wasnt blown but still leaking out oil ( i assume the head bolts stretched because they were not the stock head bolts so someone before me had messed with the head ) so i wanted to get piston 1 to TDC so i could time it ... i thought the pistons were supposed to stay where you put them...???? anyone got any ideas?
