whats used for Engine Management?

you were already told in your other thread.

dsmlink. safc. megasquirt. those are the 3 go to's of engine management. read up on them and see whats best for you.

we didnt go into depth on Engine Management that was all about upgrades

what does a pocket logger do?

you were told that if you upgraded, you would need something to tune with, I.E. engine management. and were suggested a safc or dsmlink. megasquirt is also another viable option.

a pocket logger does just that, logs what your ecu sees. you cant tune with it.

read up on the aforementioned products, and decide which is best for you. take into consideration if you plan on mild or heavy mods, and mild or high hp applications, and that will determine which will be best for you.

thanks thats more of what i wanted to know. so if im stock now but plan to upgarde later still go with somthing like the dsm link. that one guy said save my money and i thought i might just stay stock. thats why i asked this.

if you plan to stay stock, then you really dont need it. if you plan to upgrade and shoot for more HP then yes you need something to tune with. :thumb:

Yeah link might be your best bet. An advanced user would do somthing like a flashable 99 ecu or megasquirt, or even "gasp" burn there own eproms.

And yes there is definatly some improvement to be had by tuning a stock car. Could be as much as 25-30whp, and 50+ with some basic bolt ons.

ok quit being lazy. learn by searching and reading. do your research on your car and on the parts that you are wanting to put on it. dont just go straight to asking questions. it annoys everyone. Please just go search the forums for your answers
Rule 1, por favor.

Don't report a broken rule while you're breaking a rule. ;) Grammar.

I would suggest Ecmlink as well. It is geared towards our cars and has many other cool features. I use it to simulate my TPS since my Idle control sensor crapped out. I also really like the launch control and no lift to shift features. The logging in it is great and easy to understand even for a noob like myself. If you get v3 it also has quiet a few tools that will help you with your initial tune lke the MafComp. I also set it up to be my boost controller with per gear boosting. For a FWD car that is a great thing to have :)
