Hey guys got this act 2600 with the street disc from extreme psi for my 1998 gst and got it installed and step the flywheel right , it is working fine , but dam it sounds like all the springs in the dise are shaking loose, it sounds like shit. My stock clutch was nice and smooth and no sounds coming from it. I can tell this thing grabs hard but when you push in the clutch and start to release it you can hear it, and I have a new tre trans also which is great by the way. But I am pissed about this act, my last car had a centerforce and it was much better than this crap. I was going to get that one again but the guy at extreme psi said no get this one you will be happy with it. Please help me !!!!!!!

How many miles are on it?

Did you replace the throw out bearing with a plastic sleeved (OEM) unit?

My ACT street disc started sounding like that when the riveted plate that holds the springs in stated to come loose. Then it eventually just snapped several springs in half requiring a replacement of the whole thing. This shouldn't happen to yours right away unless something was instaled wrong.

hey man , yes I did install a new throw out bearing the one that came with the clutch because extrme psi said that act change theres to the stock style one , theres only 600 miles on the clutch and I broke it in easy, but this start to sound like this right away , when it was brand new.

lots of people ive talked to lately experience clutch chatter with act clutches..must be a bad batch...

yea really go with centerforce , I had that on my last gst worked great this act 2600 is good for holding power , but I dont think I should leave it in there , I just got a new trans , I don't want shity act clutch coming apart like what happen to some people on here.

I've read countless complaints in here on the ACT 2600. I'm not sure why it's a problem child, but it seems the only one that people are complaining about. At least in the forums. If you search a little you will find it has been talked about a lot.

Good Luck

I installed my ACT 2600, got the fly wheel reground, and installed a new pressure plate at 57K on my 97 TSI AWD. It held like a champ, I must have launched 50 times on it, until 106K when I spun a rod bearing. When I inspected the clutch, the disk was worn about half way and the pressure plate and fly wheel were all diffrent shades of blue. Overall I think the clutch is great. If you hear noise its not normal and you should pull the tranny and inspect everything. I agree with whats said above, they must have put out a bad batch of discs.
