I just got an ACT 2600 clutch installed in my car after my stock clutch disintigrated. I was just curious if having the stronger clutch will make any other parts on my car wear out faster...like any part of the drivetrain or anything.

If your clutch is installed and setup correctly, (your clutch fully disengages when the clutch pedal is pushed in) then no, there really isn't much added wear to the car. Although, an ACT 2600 seems like an instant ticket for crankwalk in 2g's sometimes, but I suppose I wouldn't really classify that as "added wear."

I agree with Goro. If the clutch is installed properly, you shouldn't worry about any excess wear on any driveline parts. (except for maybe tires from fun FWD burnouts) The 2600 is a great clutch that can take excessive abuse when necessary.

With the new 2600 installed, you'll have an easier time putting the power to the ground (no slipping), but the only problem you might run into is that your GST doesn't have LSD, so you might fall victim to the Honda peg-leg syndrome. (one wheel spinning)

I've put the ACT2600 on all of my daily driven DSM's so far with no problem. It's the most trusted DSM clutch. :thumb:

Good to know :)

One question though...how does a better clutch increase my chances of crank walk?

Crankwalk is also known as thrust bearing failure caused by improper lubrication from the motor.

In my opinion, a more aggressive clutch doesn't have anything to do with it at all. But everyone has their own opinion. I wouldn't really worry about it if I were you though, just address the problems that you have at hand without thinking toooooo far ahead in the future.

I've had about 4 different 2g's with stock 7bolts in them with no crankwalk problems at all. (all of them were street cars with NUMEROUS track visits) There are alot of DSM'ers who own 2g's who are terrified of crankwalk, but it doesn't happen as often as you think.

the school of thought on a upgraded clutch increasing the chances of CW is -
More side to side pressure on the crank and
less slipping = more abuse on the motor/crank
