Whats the rubber on the welds/struts under the hood.

Its on most of the places where one part is welded to another and in the corners of the strut towers facing the front, its painted the same color of the car its like a rubber coating.

Also whilst cleaning under the hood, I rubbed off a circle piece where the fender lip is, it exposed a little aluminum, should I prime this to prevent rusting?
 
Dont tell me your peeling off the factory structural adhesive shit that fills in where the rivetted plates of the strut towers/engine bay panels meet.......

NO I was just curious what it was, the thing I knocked off was in one of the pencil eraser sized holes on the fender lip in the engine bay, did it by accident.
 
Yeah, while peeling up my sound deadening underneath the back seats I kept accidentally pulling up pieces of that structural adhesive that fills in the small cracks...So dont do that. LOL
