whats the ignition timing supposed to be at?

After i swapped a 6 bolt into my 92 talon the car was way faster than i thought it was going to be. Then i blew a headgasket and some one took a look at the headgasket and said that i had detonation. He adjusted the ignition timing to 5 and now my car is way slower. Whats the correct timing?

Base timing should be 5* BTDC just like it says in the FSM.
