I know there are lots of threads for this but I didnt see the basic info that I need, also my comp wont load half the pages. Anyway I just wanted to know if for the GM MAF you just unplug the stock maf and then plug in the new GM MAF on you uicp with the same harness form the stock maf. Also, do you need a MAF translator or not?

cool thanks for the fast response. So let me get this right... you buy the GM MAF and also the GM MAF-T and from there its plug and play, all harnesses no wire messes??? anyone have pictures of theres and how its hooked up?

There is also a white wire which needs to be tapped into a tach signal wire in the CAS (not required).

I'm not sure what types of pictures you're looking for. If you don't know how to hook it up, then you shouldn't be installing it. It's a plug and play thing and can't be screwed up. And a lot of people hide the translator so you wouldn't be able to see it. Some people mount it to the side of their fuse box (or in that general area). If you're looking for pictures of the GM MAF installed, let me know and I'll post up some of mine. I can't show how the MAF-T is hooked up though because mine is hidden down at the bottom of the firewall.

This is what it looks like.

Unless you buy it as a kit, you'll have to buy the maf-t, gm maf, and couplers seperately. Make sure you get the right maf-t for your car, they make them for a few different vehicles.

Thanks a TON, do you know any site that has it for sale as a kit for a 96 gst. Every site I found only has pieces and I dont want to get stuck with something I dont need or not have something.

Edit: I take that back. Here is a link for a kit:
EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - MAF Translator Kit: Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99

But, if you want to put it together yourself because it will cost you less, here are the pieces you'd need.

-3" (not 3.5") GM MAF
-2 reducer couplers (3.25" to X" where X is the inner diameter of your uicp)
-MAF-T for 2g (can be found at most of our vendor sites for $199. or look through classifieds or eBay for used one)
-4 T bolt clamps (2 3.25" and 2 X")

Then you will have to modify your uicp to fit this in there. You'll have to cut between 3" and 4" off of the pipe. Assemble your couplers on your GM MAF and measure it (taking into account how far the pipes go into the couplers). Then transfer that measurement to your uicp and cut. It's always better to cut less the first time and then have to trim it more to have a nice fit.

Here is a link that has a list where you can find a GM MAF. Just go your local junkyard and get one. Should be about $30 or so.

I was thinking about placing it between my throttle body elbow and BOV is that ok, i dont know if it matters where its placed or not.

That is fine. The GM MAF would then be in a blow thru setup. Draw thru would be when you put it in place of your stock MAS.

Here's a picture of my blow thru setup.

That is correct.

You will either have to buy or make a new intake pipe since the stock one is set up to attach to the stock MAS. I personally went with a Dejon Tool 4" intake with the FP 4" to 2.25" reducer coupler. This is so I can have the advantage of only buying one intake for any turbo. And I got the intake with only one nipple - the crank case vent. This is because you don't need to recirculate your bov and I deleted my emissions.

Yes youll like your maft set up, i got rid of all that plastic, and replaced with hard uicp, now a fmic, is on . Good luck with your set up.

im am going to be ordering the FP 4" intake along with the 4" to 2.25" coupler, does that have the nipples on it for the vac lines?? anyone know. and thanks again for everyone who has help me out:thumb:

does the dejon tool have thoes vac nipples??? I can weld but i want as little complications as possible cause i want the car running soon.

Yes, you have the option to get these.

The pipe I got was the CIP-2gQ.

This is the pricing for the different vacuum fittings:

Tube to Valve Cover Vent Hose - $10
Tube for Charcoal Cannister Hose - $10
Air Fitting to connect Boost Control Solenoid Hose - $5

I would say if you don't plan on deleting emissions anytime soon, or at all, get the first two. If you're going to delete them, just get the valve cover vent hose. You don't need to get the BCS one because you have a mbc.
