I ordered my wideband last week and this week it's time to order a fmic what's a good cooler that will support about 350whp no more than that is all I need.. Looking for a kit made for a 1g that's short route and is around 350 bucks with the j pipe any concerns or comments on a good one to buy would be appreciated! I am really looking into the vrsf fmic I believe it's about 360 shipped with the j pipe and should support my power goals.. Also is the eBay ones mainly Godspeed any good?

Ahhh VRSF is the cheapest you can get besides ebay..But if you plan on going more than 350, the vrsf will support that.

Have you looked into a hahn, or supra sidemount for 350 hp?

Not really my next purchase after the fmic will be a gm maf and dsm link so I really want to use a front mount not to mention the open bumper on a 1g without a big front mount looks retarted LOL I hate how it looks so empty

For about 420 shipped you can utilize a ETS street FMIC and make you own pipeing. 345 for the intercooler and rest on piping
Its a great intercooler that will net you the goal you need.

People ask all the time about how good ebay ones are or how good VSRF ones, I have never had anyone ask if an ETS intercooler is any good:) I run one and have yet to feel the cold side end tank heat up at all.

If you are on a serious budget I would takes Buds advice, find a nice SMIC, Hahn Dejon or maybe make one out of two cores. Its can be just as effective for half the price. Also you dont have worry about overheating issues many see with FMIC.

^ The hybrid IC is a great idea.Especially if your local pick and pull has a 1g and 2g smic. Then add larger piping. And that could be a very budget friendly "stock" IC.

Vrsf kit or the ets street kit is on sale right now for like 520. I wouldnt mess with the custom piping route, you'll end up with more money into it then the bolt-on kit would have cost you.

520 is a little much for what I'm looking to spend I hate to sound cheap but i start school again soon and my hours are going to fall off a ton at work do I won't have as much money I mean I'm talking 350whp MAX I will be more than happy with a mid 12 second pass this fall that's all I want out of it right now

Yea i would just go with the vrspeed kit and forget about it. Hard pipe period is better then junk dry rotted rubber hoses that expand under boost. Plus the vr core will be just fine for that power level and a good bit more.

Ets does make some really quality stuff though. Worth the cash if you can swing it.

Really think I'm going to go with the vrsf kit I mean if it comes down to it in a year or do and I plan on going big power you can't cheap out on anything and I would get a great fmic

EDIT: can I use my stock fan with the vrsf kit?!

Here's a quote i found from the vrspeed guys.

"We just put the same core (fin density/design) as the 2g kit on our shop Evo and it eliminated the heatsoak issues we were having after just 1 pull & allowed us to be a bit more aggressive with the tune which gained about 42whp @ 480whp. Obviously not the same car, but the stock evo FMIC sucks. One of the first mods evo owners do is replace their restrictive FMIC's."

I think you'll be good for a while.
