I am going to be needing a new turbo for my car because the Super 16G I have now is dead. I have the Hahn manifold so I can get a T3 turbo. I am completely rebuilding the engine or I am in the process. Rebuilt bottom end ( Wiseco 8.8:1, Eagle rods). Rebuilt head (stainless steel valves, crower camshafts, crower springs and retainers, Fidanza cam gears). I want a good turbo to get the best results.

What turbo are you guys that have rebuilt engines pushing higher boost using?

Any responses appreciated!

Thanks

Well, I ahven't installed my turbo kit yet, but I will be this Sunday. I have however, done the 2.2L swap with forged internals, cam gears, P+P, etc..

For the motor set-up I've gone with and the numbers I want, I opted for the 20G. If you upgrade your motor to the fullest, I figure you mine as well do the same with the turbo. Doing it right and once is my kind of thing.

I guess most of it depends on where you want power within the RPM range, HP numbers, and boost for your DD and track performance. Just remember, SEARCHING is the best tool you could use. Read up on the characteristics on each turbo you see fit. That way, you will know why you are purchasing it, rather then what its known to do. Good luck either way! I'll post some pics and numbers after the install for ya..

BTW, the MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) 20G I have right now uses a t3 flange. Not sure if it's the same for HAHN, but if you find a MHI there will be no flange swapping necessary..

Blitz, I don't think you have a true MHI 20G. I remember seeing pictures of yours before, and the exhaust housing looked modified. A real MHI 20G should share the same flange as a 16G or 14B.

Really? I wonder why that is..

The turbo itself, or compressor housing has the MHI symbol stamped right on it..

So if the turbo is MHI, why would it(exhaust housing) be modified? I'm generally curious as to why this would be beneficial.. I'm not questioning your knowledge here Paul, I'm just honestly curious as to why it would be done. :thumb:

Do you still have the pictures available?

If I remember correctly, I thought your exhaust housing looked welded. Someone probably slapped a T3 style flange on there for whatever manifold they were trying to use.
